It is difficult to say with 100% certainty without feeling the tissue in the area and seeing what the nose looked like before surgery. If your nasal skin is on the thicker side, this can sometimes hold more swelling than average and take longer to reach the final result. That being said, I think it is a very good idea to see a surgeon who can examine the area. There is not much of a downside to doing the steroid injection and imagine they would at least give it a try. I'm sorry that this is causing you concern, but the one positive is that it takes about 12-18 months for all the swelling to fully resolve after a rhinoplasty so there is still time for this to potentially improve. And typically, even if a revision is ultimately needed, this can be taken care of relatively easily, as the issue is inadequate removal of cartilage in the supratrip which can quickly be addressed.

You appear to have relatively thin nasal skin, and since you are describing this protuberance as firm, I would think at six months after rhinoplasty, this is cartilage and not swelling, which tends to be compressible. If you indeed have to have this lowered, it would not be a major undertaking, although certainly a significant inconvenience. Wishing you well moving forward. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph

I suggest you wait a bit. Because this area is generally not left this way during surgery, but your healing tissue fibrosis is excessive in this area and creates a thick polly beak deformity. Otherwise, it is not caused by excess cartilage tissue underneath. At the end of the first year, excess healing tissue is removed with a simple revision.

Unfortunately, it can't be determined with these photos. Get in to see a surgeon to evaluate you, and if it is edema, a corticosteroid would be helpful. Good luck!

It's hard to know for sure what is going on here without an op note. My suggestion would be to for sure consider trying an injection here to see if it helps since you are still within the time period in which you could still be having unusual swelling. Don't start thinking about a revision until you've let your nose heal for a year.

It is most likely left over cartilaginous hump. This can be shaved off easily under local in the office.
One way to be sure is to inject steroids in that area and see if it gets better or not. If it does not get better then it is definitely cartilage.

I think the cartilage was left a few millimeters high right above the tip. Lowering it a little is a simple procedure but you need to wait a year before any revisions can be done

Based on the nicely posted photos you will need minor surgical revision under local anesthesia with IV sedation. Fee $2,000? Best to virtual consult with....

Rhinoplasty surgery is complex and patients should be highly selective of choosing the right provider. I do not recommend people travel long distances for elective surgical procedures, and definitely do not recommend leaving the country without proper follow up.
It looks like you need a cartilage graft to support your nasal tip. I see no indication for steroid injections.
At six months, your results are basically final.
Secondary rhinoplasty surgery is far more complex and difficult than primary procedures.
To make an accurate assessment, we always need to see a complete set of proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have a proper before and after pictures, then ask your surgeon to forward the pictures they took.
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of provider selection for any rhinoplasty surgery. Provider selection becomes even greater for secondary procedures.
