Who takes out stitches? The surgeon or the surgical nurse?

This depends on the practice.  However, if you want to see the surgeon ask to see the surgeon.  I would recommend you call in advance and specify this prior to your appointment to make sure that your surgeon is not in the operating room at the time of your visit.  Most important is patient care and satisfaction.  So I am sure your surgeon will be more than happy to see you and answer your questions.

It depends on the surgeon. Some remove the stitches. Others have their nurses do so. However, if you want to see your surgeon, then you should be able to see the surgeon. Best, Dr. Nazarian

This may vary from practice to practice.  Unless specified by your surgeon, generally the sutures are removed post operative by the nurses.  Should there be any questions of concern, you can guarantee that the medical staff will surely seek the guidance of your surgeon, your patient care and satisfaction is above all important across the board.
