I am trying to get a breast augmentation and at my first consultation they told me I have tuberous breasts. After doing research I see that my tricare insurance might cover this after I talked to them. So I’m curious if my tuberous breasts are noticeable or if they are only slightly off.
Answer: If insurance might cover, doesn't hurt to try regardless of the degree This is a congenital condition in which the breast might have a long and narrow appearance, rather than the more common round shape. The breast may be droopy and the areola may be puffy. There could also be a lack of skin under the nipple and/or the inframammary crease might be higher than usual. The tuberous breast first becomes visible at puberty when the mammary gland doesn’t fully develop. Breast augmentation surgery will help improve the appearance of the breast itself, but it won’t change the puffiness of the nipple. That can be improved by an areola reduction. According to one study, 50 percent of women who come in for breast augmentation have this concern. While plastic surgery websites and Internet forums describe a complicated approach to correcting tuberous breasts using silicone implants, I have achieved an equally aesthetic result by using saline breast implants in a simpler, safer, one-stage procedure. Answer: Trying to get a breast augmentation, are my tuberous breasts considered mild? I would call your tuberous breasts moderate. That being said, you might have a tough time getting insurance to cover augmentation. Augmentation can help with increased volume and symmetry. As always, be sure to research who performs your surgery to ensure the best likelihood of a positive result.

Answer: Tuberous breasts Your photos suggest that you do have tuberous breasts. Depending on your goals the recommended treatment would likely be a breast lift and placement of breast implants. It is unlikely that Tricare would actually cover your surgery but there is no harm in making an inquiry.

Answer: Tuberous breast Thank you for your question. I do agree that you have tuberous breast. Each insurance carrier will have their own protocol in regards to covering a procedure. I would suggest a breast augmentation with the implant placed under the muscle and a breast lift. This will help with the shape, size and droop to the breast. I would suggest seeing a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in person to evaluate you and discuss your options. Best of luck to you.

Answer: Tuberous breast and tricare You do have tuberous breasts, but you will be lucky to find someone to take insurance for this issue. State run insurance plans are notorious for not paying for surgeries that they can argue are cosmetic in nature. The best plan is to do breast implants and perform a breast lift at the same time. Best Wishes!!
