How long does the collagen made from Radiesse stay in the face? (Photo)

Question

I had radiesse done 15 months ago. 1,5 ml on each side of my jaw and in the dimple area. But I think my jaw is not as defined as before radiesse. the transition between cheekbones and jawline is less visible as before. Even my dimple is not as visible as before. And it looks more masculine and fatter/puffy. Now i know radiesse will go away between 12/18 months. But I am affraid the collagene have changed my jaw area forever. Is this possible? will i get this thight jaw back with dimple?

Hello Robin,Thank you for your question.  Radiesse typically lasts around 18 months but some of the collagen produced will still remain after that time frame.  Unfortunately, just by looking at a photo, it is difficult to assess.  I recommend a consultation with a board-certified physician who is experienced in a range of fillers and can accurately assess your face and concerns and give you the best treatment plan to give you a more defined jaw.  Hope this helps.All the best,Carlos Mata, MD, MBA, FACSBoard-Certified Plastic Surgeon

I tell my patients that the collagen build-up after Radiesse will last 15-18 months.  It is not permanent, so within a few more months, you should return to your previous baseline.

The collagen is induced by the calcium hydroxylapatite and it will last at the most 18 months and cannot be permanent. Look at your before photos to compare what you look like now vs then
