My nostrils flares when I talk. What kind of surgery or treatment can prevent this?

The flaring of the nostrils, if dynamic, is caused by muscular contractions.  Surgical procedures to narrow them will do just that, but may not eliminate true 'flaring' if that is what is going on.  You should seek consultation with an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate the dynamic nature of your problem and determine if alar surgery is right for you.Hope this helps!Best,Dr. Most

Alar or nasal base reduction is performed to reduce nostril flare at rest or with facial animation. Sometimes a nasal tip procedure is also done to maintain proper balance in the lower part of your nose. I need to see pictures to provide more specific suggestions.
