Is it normal to have pain 3 weeks after Rhinoplasty?

I have had an open rhinoplasty 3 weeks ago and have hardly taken any pain killers after surgery. It's not because there was no pain at all but I could manage without...I have a good pain trash hold. I had to take antibiotics because of an infection revealed when my cast came off. Today is exactly 3 weeks post op and I am feeling a lot of pain on my bridge. Yesterday for the first time I had pain killers and I am resisting today...but in pain. Is it normal?

Thank you very much for this interesting question.Pain and Swelling time after a rhinoplasty depends of the surgery complexity (Ex.: Rhinoplasty with nasal controled nasal bones fracture (osteotomy) will have greater inflammation than one in which only the nasal tip treatment).But, generally the nasal swelling Post-op It can last from two weeks to two months.To reduce this swelling, I recommend you perform delicates daily lymphatic drainage massage therapy over the face (around the nose) avoid sun exposure, and take pain/inflamation pills, as your surgeron precribe you.Kind regards, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Although it may be normal to have discomfort or pain 3 weeks after rhinoplasty surgery, I would recommend that you call your surgeon.  Clearly, you are having more pain than you had immediately after surgery and are taking pain medication for the first time.  Also, you mentioned that you had an infection after surgery and want to be certain that it resolved.  An evaluation by your surgeon will answer your question/questions.

From the discribition it seems you should consult your PS specially if the infection was disgnosed after cast removal.Is the skin over the bridge of nose look good.Please get it checked.With you all the best.
