Answer: Body weight and BBL surgery At your current BMI (body mass index) of 39 you would need to lose weight prior to having any type of elective surgery. Your weight should be closer to 160 in order to minimize complications from anesthesia and surgery.Consult with a few plastic surgeons in person for more detailed information.Best wishes,Dr.Bruno

Answer: VASER LIPOSUCTION WITH FAT TRANSFER TO THE BUTTOCKS (BBL) FOR AN HOURGLASS FIGURE. Hello Lovinglilio, It’s a pleasure to answer your questions! Based on your pictures and description, I would recommend VASER Liposuction with fat transfer to the buttocks (Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) to get rid of excess fat from particular areas such as arms, back, abs and flanks and transfer it to the hips and buttocks for an hourglass figure. There are limits to the amount of fat that can be safely removed. You should ask your plastic surgeon if he/she requires you to lose weight or not depending on whether he/she is planning to do a full body Liposuction or just a limited Liposuction to harvest the fat. Your surgeon might recommend you following a weight loss program before undergoing BBL surgery because the higher your weight or your Body Mass Index (BMI) are, the greater the risk for surgical and anesthetic complications. With appreciation! Dr. De La Cruz.

Answer: BBL candidate Dear Lovinglilio, generally speaking, you want to reach your goal weight before you consider a BBL surgery, otherwise your results will be suboptimal if you continue to lose weight after the surgery. Your BMI should be under 30 in order to be a candidate for a surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
