I am a 20 year old female and I recently had a consultation for a forehead reduction. The Dr told me that he would not recommend me to get it because I am too young and I have a high chance of developing a raised scar. Is this true or does it depend on their experience? I have a friend who has had a forehead reduction by a surgeon in Beverly Hills at 22 and she doesn't have a visible scar at all.

Answer: Forehead reduction using the Irregular Trichophytic Forehead Incision. Forehead reduction using the Irregular Trichophytic Forehead Incision. I have done more than a thousand of these since we invented this. If properly done you won’t see the scar as hair will grow thru the scar. I have never revised one or asked to.

Answer: What is the best age for a forehead reduction? A hairline advancement always leaves a small scar that will normally be well hidden in the hairline in a couple months. Age is not a factor for women - the reason we don't often do this procedure for men is that most men will have some hairline recession in their life and that will make in the scar quite visible. If you have a history of bad scarring or have a dark skin tone you have a higher likelihood of developing a visible scar, but this is true at any age. -Dr. Rolfes
