Can filler in the cheeks/side cheeks moved or completely dispersed by massage?

I went to get filler in cheeks/side cheeks 4 days ago, and I went on the 4th day to the hairdresser who massaged my scalp as well as my top cheek near temple. I am really worried the filler in my cheeks has gone down now. Is that possible ?? Should I be worried that the filler has gone off from my face ?? Can filler be totally dispersed if massaged ?

Hi and thank you for your question! The short answer is no, it is very unlikely for the filler to move or get dispersed a few days later by a simple massage. Of course if you are concerned, you should do a follow up with your physician. However, during the first few days of filler injection, swelling is very common and it is likely that you had some swelling during the first days that made the results of the filler look even more prominent and then the swelling started to go down around the same time that you got the massage and the coincidence of the two made you think that the massage made the filler go away, even though it was probably just the swelling that subsided. A follow up with your doctor at around two weeks following the injection and comparison of before and current pictures would be advisable if you are still concerned. I hope it helps and good luck!

Filler on the cheeks cannot be dispersed or moved by massage.  The filler is injected very deep and it stays where is placed. However, it may be that the initial swellings has gone down and you perceive that as filler moving  or dispersing.   I would recommend that you wait a few weeks and then go back to your provider to compare the before filler pictures to your after ones.

Some slight lower temple massage by your hairdresser should not negatively impact your long-term results. Also, keep in mind that it's only been a few days since your initial appointment so you're not looking at your final outcome yet. Any changes you see in the next few days are likely due to post-injection swelling going down and not your hairdresser visit. If you have any concerns, check back in with your injector.

Hello starss12,It doesn’t sound that your fillers have moved from the massage you got. Shouldn’t happen. However, sometimes the placement of the cheek fillers incorrectly can cause displacement but not from the massage unless they massaged directly over the cheeks forecefully. If you do see movement, assuming you had an hyaluronic acid filler, you can have it reversed with an enzyme. Please consult back to your injector to re-evaluate if this continues to bother you.Cheers
