Day 9 post Rhinoplasty.. Please help!! (photos)

I have seen cases where the supra tip region is markedly swollen at 9 days out from rhinoplasty. At this point, only your surgeon really knows what was done to this region. I would express your concerns to your surgeon. In some cases, taping the nose and/or injecting steroids can help with more moderate swelling this early in the healing process.

Dear meh2at 9 days post op there is significant swelling. You should share your concern with your surgeon. In general, you will have a good sense of the dorsum at 6-8 weeks and of the tip at 3 months. Both will continue to change for 6 months to a year. 

It is true that at 9 days there is a lot of swelling and it can be difficult to anticipate the final result.  Nonetheless, I am sure your surgeon would like to hear from you if you are in distress.  I urge you to contact him/her and have a visit to address your concerns.

Your pictures are taken at different angles so it is difficult to say.  However, at nine days you are very swollen and it is impossible to know what your final result will be.  Swelling after rhinoplasty will persist for several months and even up to a year.  

As my colleagues have mentioned you are very early in the healing process. However, the swelling in the area above your tip is unusual. I recommend that you call your Rhinoplasty surgeon and forward a photo. They will want to see you and check on your nose and ensure that you're healing properly. Dear Meh2, As the other surgeons have stated your nose is still quite swollen at nine days post op and will take some time to dissipate especially in the tip area. I would suggest you see your surgeon for follow up and discuss your concerns regarding the "pollybeak deformity" that appears to be developing. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.

Hi,It appears that you have some swelling and bruising, which is not usually at 9 days post op. However, it does appear that you may have pollybeak deformity developing. This can only be confirmed by examining the nose. You may want to ask your surgeon or get a second opinion.Best,Dr.S.
