Answer: 18 days post my breast augmentation and this is what I look like, advice? Thank you for your pictures and questions. At 18 days after surgery, my advice is....do nothing. It is going to take at least three months for the implants to settle and for you to even begin to see your final results. Try to be patient and follow your surgeon's instructions.Good luck!

Answer: Implant dropping Dear amenidhb,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast augmentation surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process at 18 days post op.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively. At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues around the implants are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides and the implants drop to their final position, you will be able to see the final result of your breast augmentation surgery.Dropping of implants is part of the healing process and this occurs after the tissues surrounding the implants slowly relax, allowing the implants to settle into their final position. It can take about four to six months for the implant to drop down to their final position. I understand that you are worried about your implants are not dropping as expected. However, you are still in the early phase of the recovery period. Please do allow some time for the healing process to occur. If after six months, you are not satisfied with the appearance of your breast, you can visit your plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Breasts need time to drop and fluff At 18 days you are about 14 Percent settled, softened, shaped, dropped and fluffed. "Drop and fluff" refers to the fact that as the skin stretches and the muscles relax, the implants move down and out slowly – about 1 percent a day. It’ll be about six weeks before they even begin to settle down, but they’ll be close to 80 percent settled at three months. Watching their progress is like watching your hair grow. You don’t see a difference in your hair growth daily, but all of a sudden you need a haircut. Be patient after surgery. Give yourself a few months before making a judgment about your surgical results. You won't know the outcome until then. You should express your concerns to your surgeon. Answer: 18 days post-op augmentation is not your final result but there are many factors that go into whether your implants settle or not. Do you have smooth round implants? If so, settling will continue. If you have textured anatomic, they will not move much. Was your pocket dissected just to fit the implant or was it made a little larger for mobility? And are you massaging or manipulating your implants with external forces and massage as it can help with improving outcomes if smooth round implants were used. So what you have is normal for 3 weeks but your surgeon should be advising your on what maneuvers you could employ to get a better outcome.

Answer: Asymmetry after augmentation Breast implants will "settle" over time and the final result may not appear until 3-6 months after the procedure with gravity, tissue stretch, resolution of inflammation and swelling, and scar maturation all playing a role in shaping your final breast. It is also important to remember that both breasts can heal at different rates and one breast may settle faster than the other. In the meantime, I would recommend having patience and waiting to see how your breasts settle over time. If you still remain concerned however, I would suggest following-up with your surgeon to be re-evaluated. Hope this helps!
