How can I treat my breast reduction scars? (Photos)

Question

I am 10 months post op. Scars are not raised at all and do not feel fatty/are not obvious with only touch but visably extremely pronounced and hyperpigmented to a point that is almost difficult to believe. What to do, and realistically how much of a difference will it likely make if i do it?

I think that you have normal healing scars. I would not do anything surgical to them as they will likely not improve the character of the scars, but you can consider laser to the scars to help lighten the appearance.

I would recommend Stratomed or Stratoderm which is a silicone based creame.   It can help hydrate the scar and get the inflammation out. Also breast scars can respond to lasers or hydroquinone to help lighten it.  Takes one to two years to get the best results.    It should fade. Best to ask your board certified plastic surgeon

Congratulations on your breast reduction surgery, jenny60877! Sorry to hear about your scars.
It might take about a year before your scars fade, so I suggest you wait for two more months before thinking about scar revision surgery.
But right now, you do have several non-invasive options to help lighten your scars. You might want to apply topical creams/drugs that contain retinol, kojic acid, or hydroquinone, as these chemicals can suppress pigment formation. You may also try intensed pulse light treatments or IPL. Avoid sun exposure as UV rays can further stimulate pigment production.
Discuss your options with a reputable and board-certified plastic surgeon, or even a licensed dermatologist.
