Would another FUE help fill in density after first hair transplant?

Question

46 year old male. I had a 2,400 graft ARTAS procedure just over two years ago to the frontal hairline and crown. Results are natural looking except for: -thin spot inside widows peak -some slight pitting and red spots on front hair line -crown was never bald, but still looks noticeably thinner than rest of hair Could I benefit from another, hopefully smaller procedure? I have lots of donor hair. The donor area looks completely natural but is it possible to yield grafts from it again?

Greetings,Density is one of the most critical factors after hair transplantation.  Early on you may not be able to fully determine your density.  Density depends on various factors including the number of hairs  per cm squared, the thickness and vibrancy of hair, direction and design of hair.  Techniques for density vary from surgeon to surgeon.  In my office, we utilize a specialized technique that allows for optimizing density and found it to be helpful.

Generally at age 46 your hair loss should be fairly stable.  At times patients need a 2nd fue procedure to add density and obtain a more natural result.  We generally recommend 9-12 months before having a 2nd procedure.

You could very well have lost more hair due to further male pattern hairloss. It has been 2 years that has passed. Dr. Rassman below said to wait another 8 months. Not in my opinion. Go to a reputable clinic and get an evaluation for your options.

Many people get a second FUE procedure to touch up areas they may not be satisfied with following their first FUE procedure. If you have sufficient donor hair (as determined from an in person consultation, not just from it looking full) then there's absolutely no problem with having another transplant.

If your donor area allows it, I will just say GO FOR IT.

A second transplant can add density for sure. Also, make sure to combine your transplant with a non-surgical treatment such as PRP, Propecia, Laser therapy, etc. In order to prevent further hair loss or thinning. Schedule a consultation with a Hair Doctor and talk about your goal so that together you can define the proper treatment plan.

It is common to perform multiple procedures of hair transplant over one's lifetime. Touch ups are often needed as well as further restoration for large graft sessions that need to be spaced into 2 separate procedures. In addition to repeat FUE transplant procedure it is very reasonable to consider medications and PRP to address hair thinning.
