People often tell me I look sad/tired/angry when my face is resting. My bottom lip sticks out A bit more than my upper lip. It's also fuller than my upper lip and it makes me look like I'm Upset. I also think the area under my lower lip is fleshier than most people. You can see the cast shadows a little in the frontal photo. My nose is also a little wide and bulbous at the tip. What procedures should I do to fix these things? Are they very extensive?
Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, you may benefit from a tip refining rhinoplasty. Your surgeon can accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your lower nose. You may also benefit from a cephalic rotation of your tip to turn up your tip slightly and a conservative dorsal hump reduction. You may also benefit from fillers injected in your lip. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: How can I fix my nose? A closed rhinoplasty approach can accomplish narrowing the bulbous tip and narrowing the bridge line with all the incisions placed on the inside of the nose. The side profile photograph also demonstrates a week and recessive chin profile for which a chin implant can improve. For many examples of both procedures performed in combination, please see the video and the link below

Answer: Cost of rhinoplasty, bulbous tip, disharmony of lip size. To address the cost of a rhinoplasty and lip enhancement it will vary from community to community and the procedure choosen. For lip enhancement I would recommend and injectable filler such as Juvéderm. The fillers can create subtle enhancement with refinement and the shape and balance of the lips without being overdone. If you find any change unacceptable it can be reversed. injectable fillers usually cost between $500 and $600 a syringe. With regard to rhinoplasty on the profile view the angle between the nose and the upper lip is to acute, the tip is slightly large and the dorsum is slightly low. On the frontal view the thing that stands out as the width of your nose. This involves the bony and cartilaginous dorsum of the nose as well as the tip. all of this is discussed when performing a rhinoplasty with the goal being a refined more feminine nose that complements the remaining facial features. Creating balance between the nose and the rest of the face will reduce the need for dramatic changes in the upper lip. the cost of a rhinoplasty will range between $8000 and $16,000.

Answer: Rhinoplasty Chin Augmentation Candidate Dear Dalia, You would be an excellent candidate for rhinoplasty surgery to help reduce the width of your nose and refine your bulbous tip. In addition a small chin augmentation with possible sub-mental liposuction would provide a balanced profile. Overall both procedures will address your current concerns and in the hands of an expert surgeon will provide you with a very rewarding result. Seek some consultations with experts in the field. Have imaging performed to show you the proposed changes and then review the surgeons before and after photographs to ensure natural looking rhinoplasty results. See many examples in the link below. In the video above see a the imaging process along with proposed results and final results in a patient with both procedures performed. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.

Answer: How can I fix my nose/lip profile? Your lips are beautiful. If you want to enhance them, fillers would be recommended. As for your nose, it is too wide with a bulbous tip. The bridge can easily be narrowed and the tip refined. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon for an evaluation.
