Answer: Concern 6 days after BBL Hi and welcome to our forum!Congratulations on your recent surgery! The operative result is not yet apparent as there are multiple factors at play. Inflammatory swelling will totally obscure the size and configuration of the buttocks. Also, the skin and soft tissues must adjust and reshape to accommodate the added volume beneath. 60-80% will resolve over the first 6 weeks, with the remainder abating over 6-12 months. It is far too early to assess the operative result.Follow the advice of your surgeon and continue follow up care.Best wishes...

Answer: Flat bottom before and after BBL there are a few reasons this can happen. The lower half of the buttocks has a lot of connective tissue which varies from person to person. This is why this area is prone to having cellulite. This area needs to tolerate your entire body weight when sitting. Just like the skin is drastically different on the palm of your hand in the back of your hand. The palm of your hand has tons of connective tissue anchoring the skin to the underlying fascia so does the skin of the lower buttocks anchor to the muscle layers with connective tissue also called septae. These connective tissue fibers sometimes don't have the ability to stretch well. When fat is grafted between the muscle and the skin contour simply doesn't follow volumetric changes leaving patients with a flat spot after a BBL. Grafting deep into the muscle can help. Time also helps as tissues slowly stretch. Patients who are prone to having a flat spot after a BBL are somewhat predictable and ideally this should be discussed before the procedure if the provider is aware of the situation. Some people also have a square shaped bottom which can limit what can be acheived. It's far too early to judge your results. Give it another couple of months.Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.

Answer: BBL Results Hi there! Thanks for your question! Generally, we tell patients to wait about 2-3 months before analyzing their final results. If you had your surgery on February 20, 2019, your buttocks will still be very swollen and will not have reached their final shape. If you are still not pleased with the results after the 3-month mark, you can consult with your surgeon about your concerns. However, please try to be patient as your body is still recovering. Good luck to you!!Sincerely, James Fernau, MD, FACS Board Certified Plastic Surgery Chairman of the Patient Safety Committee for American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Assistant to the National Secretary for the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Member of The Rhinoplasty Society The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery International Federation for Adipose Therapeutics & Science
