I have little to no feeling on the lower halves of my boobs starting from the middle of the nipple and down. I also have a small amount of lost sensation on parts of my back. I got the augmentation a year ago. I went from an A to a full C. Do I still have a chance of regaining sensation? I've been hoping something would change. I'm getting pretty nervous. It is an uncomfortable feeling.
Answer: Numbness Hello and thank you for your question. I understand your concern and nervousness. I'm sure the numbness can be uncomfortable. Immediately after breast augmentation numbness of the lower pole of the breast is a common complaint. Usually this feeling comes back in weeks-months. If patients complain about "weird" sensations then I have them retrain the brain that normal touch is...normal. I tell them to rub the area multiple times a day, even use different textures like the end of a soft towel and just lightly graze the area with that. If you are still having this feeling and its been over a year, the likelihood of sensation coming back is very low. But it never hurts to revisit your plastic surgeon and ask him/her their thoughts. I wish you all the bestAnkur Mehta MD

Answer: Regaining sensation over a year after surgery isn't encouraging but if you've had some funny sensations and are slowly having it return, it could still happen. But at this point, you should hope for the best but not expect it and focus your energies on enjoying your new look and curves. This is a risk of surgery and unfortunately, it does happen but if the nipples themselves have sensation, most surgeons consider that the most important area to preserve.

Answer: Lost sensation After one year, it is very unlikely that you will regain sensation. There may be some small and slow improvement over the coming months and years, but a return to normal sensation should not be expected.

Answer: I have lost sensation in my boobs, can I regain it? After a full year if you have had absolutely no recovery of sensation and do not have uncomfortable saensations in the area it is unlikely that you will recover sensation. If you have had partial recovery sensation can continue to return for another year.
