I’m considering getting either CoolSculpting or Vaser Lipo on abdomen and love handles. Which one would you suggest? (Photo)

Thank You for your question.If you have small problem areas you can use non invasive methods like Coolsculpting with Vanquish or trusculpt iD to get small areas of fat reduced. Skin also tightens if you combine this with Exilis Ultra, Venus Legacy, and Inmode Forma/Contoura radiofrequency treatments. You boost the results from Coolsculpting if you add in Kybella injections to melt fat as well. We often combine Coolsculpting with shock therapy like ZWave, EVIVE, and Cellutone to get even faster results, more improvement, and less risk of combinations like nodules, swelling, neuropathy or paradoxical hyperplasia. Coolsculpting often takes a few treatments separated 8 to 12 weeks apart to get significant improvement. However, to get the most fat removal, contouring, skin tightening and definition, a VASER HI-DEF liposuction / liposculpture procedure with ThermiRF, Renuvion (J-Plasma), InMode BodyTite and fat grafting is your best bet. Coolsculpting is great for reducing small areas without any down time. Vaser is real lipo with the ability to perform high definition sculpting. If you are not opposed to having a minimally invasive procedure, I would definitely go with the Vaser. Dr. Jack Bertolino is in Buffalo and does excellent work.

Hello Soda16,From the photo, which is limited in quality, it appears that you're a candidate for both if on examination your skin quality is great (I can't tell this by your photo). However, if there is a lot of skin laxity and stretch marks then perhaps a Vaser Liposculpture with mini-Tummy tuck would be preferable. I suggest you consult with a surgeon who offers both options so you could make your decision based on unbiased recommendations.Both procedures will give you results within 3 months, but if you're looking for a more dramatic change and you have the time for a recovery then you'd probably be happier with Vaser Liposculpture of your abdomen/hips/flanks.Best of luck,Oscar A. In simplest terms, the difference between CS and lipo is this: Surgical or invasive options will give you the better result and the faster result. The benefit of the non-surgical or non-invasive approaches like Coolsculpting is that they avoid any of whatever perceived aggravation you feel may be related to surgery, but the results will not be quite as good and certainly not as fast. Also, depending on the volume of fat in the area, one is likely to require multiple sessions, so at some point, multiple sessions of CS will be more costly than lipo. In your case, since there is a time factor involved, lipo will likely give you the better results by the time of your trip. The more important consideration is what your goals and expectations are. You should be seen by an experienced cosmetic surgeon, who has both treatment options available, and can help you determine what will best meet your needs.

Great question! Both CoolSculpting and Vaser Lipo will permanently reduce fat but there are some significant differences in the treatments. CoolSculpting is non-invasive and will remove approximately 22% of the fat from the treated area and will not help any skin laxity issues if present. Final results take about 4 months to be seen so you will not have your final result when you go to Florida in 3 months. Vaser Lipo is minimally invasive so there will be some small scars and some additional down-time as well as wearing a post procedure garment for a month, but can remove as much fat as needed to properly contour the area. The fat is removed at the time of the procedure so you see your results much more quickly and you would look quite different by your vacation. The heat from the Vaser ultrasound will also stimulate collagen production so skin is likely to tighten. This is usually not as much as would be seen with a tummy tuck, but is noticeably better in most patients. From your photo and your description, I would guess that you would be a better candidate for the Vaser Lipo to help you achieve the results you desire. I would suggest consultation with a physician experienced in both of these treatments so you can be properly assessed as to the results achievable with each treatment and to help determine which would be your better choice. I would definitely say you need liposuction on your love handles because those are seen clearly in the photograph. On the other hand the abdomen, the quality of your muscles and skin need to be evaluated in person by a plastic surgeon who can make a recommendation for the best treatment in your case. If you have had children and your skin is relatively loose you may also look into having the skin tightening procedure by Renuvion or j-plasma. Good luck from New York City
