Thank you for your question.Botox is the most common procedure to help with the 11 lines between the brows. It paralyzes the muscle to stop movement so the wrinkle will soften at rest. Depending on how deep the 11's are, fillers can be another option to help soften the lines, but the muscle will still contract and create the line when making facial expressions. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment.I hope this helps.
Thank you for your question. While neuromodulators like Botox, Xeomin or Dysport are the mainstay treatments, other options do exist. Fillers like Restylane or Juvederm are options. Also a minimally invasive procedure called ThermiRase weakens the nerves to relax the elevens and lasts 2-3 years. Surgical options of endoscopic or open disruption of muscle and grafting of fat also are the invasive options. You should have a consultation to discuss the pros and cons of all theses options.
Unfortunately, there isn't any alternative to neurotoxins i.e.. botox/ disport to best address the glabellar lines (11s, as you referred them). If they are prominent with grooves, adding fillers will result better correction. However, you can stage them.
In General, Botox is the best for eliminating the elevens. However patients who are not interested in Botox can see substantial improvement using injectable fillers. My personal suggestion is to use both Botox and fillers for the initial treatment. It can provide a longjevity of approximately nine months with combined correction. Often the 11s do not come back to the same depth and can continue to be treated appropriately with either Botox or fillers down the line.
Neurotoxins like botox, xeomin, and dysport are really the best way to improve the appearance of the deep furrows that appear between the eyebrows. While some people have tried fillers in the past, I would not recommend this treatment because there have been many reported cases of skin necrosis and blindness because of improper injection into blood vessels in this highly vascularized area. Depending on the appearance of the rest of your face, forehead lifting may be another option to help improve the condition. Good luck!
I would say that Botox is the best treatment for improving the 11's between the eyes. If there is a deep furrow in the 11's, sometimes a filler (in place of or in addition to Botox) can be used to help. There are a variety of fillers that potentially can be used.
The gold standard for treating these movement/dynamic wrinkles is with botox, a treatment that is safe and has been around for over 20 years, and even used safely in children. If this is not an option, then fillers can be of benefit, and sometimes laser resurfacing. Using a topical retinoid or retinol can also give some modest benefit.
Thanks for yourquestion and I think that, after reading the answers that some of the othershave given you that the use of Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin is the best for this. Why are you scared of them? These products have been around for years, and witha skilled injector, the 11’s can be made to disappear, in most, for 3-4 months.Make a consult with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon andlearn how safe this is when used by skilled injectors. There are some fillersthat can be used in the 11’a area – mainly Belotero and Restylane Silk – theywill help some, but actually work even better when one of the toxins are used. Somemay recommend lasers or peels and they can help some here, but not as good asusing Botox or one of the other agents.
Hi Jane, thank you for yourquestion! Botox is the most common injectable to eliminate the 11s between youreyes but you can also use Restylane. Restylane is a dermal filler that iscomprised of hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring molecule alreadyfound in your skin. Restylane works great to restore youth and lasts up to 18months. I treat many of my patients with Restylane to eliminate under eye bagsas well. This dermal filler has multiple uses to add volume and can take yearsoff your appearance! Best, Dr. Ostad.
botox and fillers all need to be repeated and if the lines are very deep they may not make them go away , just less obvious. Sometimes surgery can be used to remove, or interrupt the muscles that contract that cause those lines. This can be done along with an upper lid blepharoplasty. Actually , botulism toxin has been one of the best ways of decreasing the lines with almost no side effects.
