Answer: Diaper Rash Cream on Abdominoplasty Incision Thank you for question! When it comes to all post operative care, I recommend consulting with your Plastic Surgeon. Your surgeon should provide you with the appropriate steps to soothe irritation that you are experiencing with your incision. In addition, I recommend using a Silicone Scar gel to aid with the healing of your abdominoplasty incision.

Answer: What will happen if I put diaper rash cream on my tummy tuck scar? No particular scar treatment is better than another. One treatment (silicone sheets) may be helpful for one patient while another treatment (Mederma) may help another patient. If the itching is related to an allergic reaction to the adhesive as you infer, your PS should be consulted for removal instructions. Answer: Diaper rash cream Hi, thank you for your question. Using diaper rash cream on your incision will not hurt it, per se, but you should follow up with your plastic surgeon for evaluation. They can recommend a product to remove the residual adhesive and treat the actual cause of you discomfort.

Answer: What will happen if I put diaper rash cream on my tummy tuck scar? Your best course of action is to consult with your board certified plastic surgeon directly, as each surgeon has his/her own protocols and would be the best resource of information regarding post-op management.

Answer: Post-op Protocol Thank you for your question. I would not apply diaper rash cream to the incision. I would reach out to your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to discuss treatment for the itchiness. If the adhesive is steri-strips then he/she will probably want to remove them and get you on some type of steroid whether it is oral, topical, or both. Do not apply any creams or take any medications without discussing with your surgeon as this may make things worse. Once the irritation has subsided, your surgeon will most likely have you start using a scar cream. I recommend my patients either use a silicone based scar cream or silicone gel sheets. Good luck and best wishes!
