I’m 12 days out of surgery and noticed this pleating. I know it’s much too early to tell but will it go away? Do I need to massage this area so they it doesn’t stay like this? I am currently in a CG now and have placed a piece of top foam inside. I want to start an early regime before it gets out of hand. What can I do in addition to what I am already doing? Notice one side looks worse than the other. Thank you in advance!

Answer: Pleating after tummy tuck It is not at all uncommon to have pleading of your incision at this stage of the game. These will often take 3 to 6 months to settle out completely, but they usually turn out fine. There is no special regimen that you need to follow to make this happen. Continue wear of your compression garment as directed by your surgeon and discuss the issue with your him or her at your next visit.

Answer: Pleating after tummy tuck Good morning. Thank you for your question and for providing good photos. 12 days postop is too early to make a judgement regarding how tissues will remodel over time. I think you'll be very surprised how different the incision looks in 3-4 months. Having said that, there is significant gathering here. I would start tissue massage along the scar and compression as you are doing. Certainly you have returned to your surgeon by this time and need to follow his or her recommendations. In my patients, I have a very low threshold for revisions if tissue are not perfectly aligned but do not offer any local scar revisions until at least 3 or 4 months postop, depending on the situation. It might be the case that most of the pleating resolves and a small local scar revision could address any residual anomalies. Good luck!
