I have lipedema and will be getting liposuction to my legs from ankle to thigh 360. How does that work if I’m only period? I don’t want to be naked and have my legs spread open and be flipped around on the table while I’m heavily bleeding. Do they allow you to keep underwear on because I had the impression that I’ll be completely nude.
Answer: Surgery No, all clothing will need to be removed. However, you can wear a tampon. Many times, the flow will diminish because of anesthesia,

Answer: Leg lipo and Period Thanks so much for your question, if the patient is menstruating at the time of surgery, it should not necessarily be a dealbreaker as long as the patient’s overall health is optimized. Your best bet is to discuss menstrual concerns with your surgeon, who will provide guidance on how to manage the situation safely and comfortably Sincerely, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol

Answer: Liposuction You will be nude during your procedure, though you will be draped appropriately. The underwear would interfere with prepping/cleansing the skin for surgery. It will not be an issue if you are having your period. I encourage you to speak with your surgeon about your concern. It is important that you are comfortable and confident as you prepare for surgery.

Answer: Leg lipo and Period It's understandable to have concerns about your comfort and privacy, especially when undergoing a procedure like leg liposuction. For lipedema liposuction, the general procedure is usually done general anesthesia, so you won’t be conscious during the process. Most likely, you'll be asked to wear a hospital gown during the procedure, which keeps you covered while allowing access to the areas being treated. As for your period, it's typically fine to undergo surgery while menstruating. However, many people choose to reschedule their surgery around their period, especially for personal comfort. If rescheduling isn't an option, the medical team can take extra precautions. You can certainly express your concerns about not wanting to be fully exposed or uncomfortable, and the surgical staff will do their best to accommodate your preferences. Regarding your period, it's possible to use sanitary pads or other discreet options to ensure you’re as comfortable as possible during the procedure. Be sure to bring it up with your surgeon before the day of surgery to discuss any concerns. They are there to ensure your safety and comfort.

Answer: Leg lipo and Period Thank you for your question. In the operating room we see vaginas and blood every day. It's nothing to be worried about. The nice thing about surgery is that everyone sees all body parts every day! We all have them! There is nothing sexual about it and nothing to be embarrassed about. It's a normal part of being a woman.
