Can long-term Botox use affect my memory and my vision? (Photo)

Question

I have been receiving Botox injections every 3 months to my face ,neck and shoulders. It is for migraines and damage to the facial nerve from a traumatic neuroma. I am having an increase in memory loss and now visual changes. Any other treatments work better and have less side effects? Any suggestions. Would be greatly treated.

Routine use of Botox Cosmetic to improve one's appearance generally does not affect long-term vision. The most likely method that Botox might affect vision is when it weakens the upper eyelid muscle causing it to droop and block vision. This vision affect is temporary until the Botox wears off, and can be treated in the interim with eye drops. Lastly, there is no known affect with cosmetic Botox injection to affect memory.If there is any concern, then you should always speak with your plastic surgeon regarding Botox.Best,Dr. Chaboki

Thank you for asking your question. Botox does not effect one's memory. If it migrates after its injection, there can be a weakend eyelid muscle causing it to droop. Also, Botox can cause double vision if it migrates to one of the muscles which moves the eye. See an Oculoplastic Surgeon who will be able to perform comprehensive evaluation of the problem and guide you with treatment options.Good luck,

I have never seen these side effects written or discussed at meetings. I would discuss with your doctor and make sure you see an ophthalmologist about this.

Thank you for your question. This is a cosmetic forum but almost all treat with Botox and the answers regarding safety with Botox is the same regardless of whether it is used for cosmetic or medical therapy.
