I'm not sure why the provider performed the procedure. Did you inform your treating doctor that you were 17 weeks pregnant? It is not recommended that treatment be performed on a pregnant woman. There is no way to tell if there was any impact on the fetus. Consult of Ob.
Hi Nikkijess, there are no studies that demonstrated the safety of filler during pregnancy. That being said, my office has a policy of never performing elective medical or cosmetic procedures on pregnant or breast feeding women. You need to make sure that you inform your physician that you are pregnant before any procedures are performed moving forward. Make sure and follow up with your OB for routine pre-natal care.
There is no data to answer your question. The standard of care is to not perform non-essential medical or aesthetic procedures on pregnant women. The answer is likely that this local injection with not harm your baby, but I would be curious to find out why prudence did not dictate the procedure be performed after delivery and completion of breast feeding.
Did you NOT tell the injecting doctor you were pregnant? I always require my patients to answer if they could be pregnant. Than I recommend to wait until after finished breastfeeding to have any fillers injected....
Thank you for your question. From the PI of Juvederm "The safety for use during pregnancy, in breastfeeding females, or in patients under 18 years has not been established.". While there is unlikely anything will happen there are no controlled studies showing that fillers are safe and thus it is best to err on the side of caution and not have filler until your child is born. I don't know who your friend is but you should seek the advice of a board certified Dermatologist when undergoing a medical procedure such as fillers/botox/etc. Regards, Dr. Matt Elias
I do over 10 patients a day for over 14 years and have tremendous experience doing lip fillers as it is not just an injection but an art of knowing how a nice beautiful lip is supposed to look like, where to inject and how to inject. So you are paying for experience and art and in this...
It is difficult to say what the gap is and how to correct if from the photos. It would be difficult to say that braces caused this kind of problem. I would consult a specialist to see if fillers can resolve this. Best, Dr. Green
The lips are uneven but I would definitely try to avoid surgery. It appears that your lips could be corrected with lip fillers nicely. Please consult an expert for this advanced technique. Best, Dr. Green
The smile line (lower vermilion level) can be lowered by either Botox injections or a surgical procedure. Internal V-Y mucosal advancements can be done to lengthen the upper lip at the smile line over the teeth.
It appears that you have a nice shape to your lip but I do believe that you will need more than half of a syringe to get the complete look that you want. Please consult a board certified dermatologist who specializes in lip augmentation and cosmetic injections for the best results. Best, Dr. Green
I would wait six months after the surgery to evaluate the next procedure. It appears from the photos that fillers placed correctly would give you a nice result with a qualified dermatologist who is an expert in fillers. Best, Dr. Green
