I've seen a number of plastic surgeons posting their operating schedules on instagram etc. I'm concerned that some are performing 8 or 9 breast augmentations a day. I know surgeons are used to being on their feet but this seems like a lot of hours. I'd like my PS to be fresh, switched on and focused on my procedure. I don't want to be a number in a production line. How many surgeries is considered overload in the industry? Should I look to avoid surgeons that do say, more than 10 BAs in a day?
Answer: How many surgeries in one day would be considered too many for one PS to perform? There are no absolute rules or "standards" when it comes to how many cases a surgeon does every day. As you can imagine, every surgeon will have a different level of "focus" and stamina. Personally, I not a fan of posting schedules on social media forums; I may be old-fashioned but I think that this demonstrates a lack of professionalism. In other words, this type of behavior (again, in my opinion) demonstrates the need for showmanship and/or lack of humility. Neither of these qualities are attributes that I would want if I were selecting a surgeon. My best advice: select a plastic surgeon who is well experienced and retains some of the "old-fashioned" characteristics of professionalism, integrity, and humility.Happy Thanksgiving.

Answer: Breast augmentation Thank you for your question. Many surgeons perform more than a dozen breast augmentations in one day. This is not considered an overload if it is a board certified plastic surgeon that has plenty experience. If you are concerned, you can ask your plastic surgeon to operate on you early in the day.

Answer: Plastic Surgery and Social Media Hi Stellanova. That's a tough question to answer. Social media fortunately or unfortunately populates the world of plastic surgery. Some patients love it, and others are concerned by it. The same applies to plastic surgeons - there are surgeons who have a very heavy social media presence and those who avoid it. Social media can also portray mixed and confusing information about procedures and surgeons. In the case of your question, I would suggest focusing less on how many cases a surgeons does in a day. Instead, discuss with your surgeon and see the results that he or she has achieved (both good and bad) and, more importantly, what type of result would be expected for you. Getting the best result for you, at the end of the day, is the most important thing. All the very best. Dr Ray Goh

Answer: No rule, your discretion. Some surgeons are very diligent not to over pack their schedules, to ensure top care for each patient they operate on. It does depend on a surgeon's stamina, and the time they take with each procedure, to determine what their schedule is. My best advice to you is, if you feel uneasy about a surgeon posting their schedule on Instagram, and you're feeling a lack of confidence in their ability to give you adequate care based on their amount of surgeries in a day, then this isn't the surgeon for you. Seek a surgeon who makes you feel their patients are top priority.
