Why does this help my breathing?

I broke my nose a couple of years ago. I never noticed an affect to my breathing; however recently I noticed if I push up on the tip of my nose or pull up on the area between my eyes, there is almost a click and I can breath better.

It is difficult to tell without pictures, but more importantly being able to see inside your nose. After nasal trauma, patients can have worsening of their breathing for a number of reasons including changes to shape of nasal septum, the nasal bones or the cartilages on the outside of the nose or combination of all of these. By moving the cartilages on the nose as you are doing with your fingers, you can move collapsed cartilages into an area that allows you to open up the nasal airway. I would recommend seeing someone with experience in post-traumatic septorhinoplasty surgery to evaluate the areas causing your obstruction and learn how this could be improved.
