The most natural feeling and looking breast implant is the one the fits you best. Silicone implants feel better than saline (when sitting on a table top in front of you, not necessarily when implanted). However, to give you the best results you want an implant that fits your existing breasts well, and you also want to have some pre-existing breast tissue. If you are a C cup to start with, it doesn't matter what implant you get, it will be well hidden. If you are an A cup, no matter what you do, you will always be able to feel your implants and most likely see them.
When a patient comes to me and says herpriority is a natural LOOK and FEEL, the discussion will turn to the Gummy Bearimplant. As you may know, this is the fifth-generation of silicone gelimplants. In my 15 years+ of active practice, Gummy Bears offer exceptionaloutcomes – natural and healthy. Implant type is one of the most important decisions you and your surgeonwill make. You’ll have chance to see and touch implants during yourconsultation. You should absolutely review the surgeon’s work on the practicewebsite. After all, results are what matter.
Smallround textured silicone gel implants placed retro-pectoral look and feel morenatural, are more stable, less likely to ripple or have complications needingrevision. Implant profile is irrelevantin the retro-pectoral since the muscle compresses it. Unfortunately, you have not told us your brasize just your cup size. If you are 32or 34 each 100 cc’s of implant corresponds to 1 cup size change. If you are 36 or 38 each 200 cc’s of implantcorresponds to 1 cup size change. Fromthis, you can compute the volume required to achieve your desired goal. Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.
In my opinion, the most natural implant is a smooth silicone implant in all respects. You can discuss all aspects of the implants when you have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. Best of luck!
You can see the consensus is that silicone gel implants are the most natural feeling, at least to Plastic Surgeons. Patients who choose saline implants love their implants as well. There is a lot that goes into choosing the right implant for each patient. Get the complete story when you get a consultation from good Board certified Plastic Surgeon. Good luck.
Silicone implants, by far, feel much more natural than saline implants, in my opinion. However, I have all my patients feel both implants during their consultation so that each woman can make up her mind of what feels best to her. The majority easily choose silicone gel implants because of their natural feel. Visit a boarded PS to feel both types of implants and decide what is right for you. Good Luck!
Thank you for your question. The most natural looking and feeling implants are the silicone gel implants. These are softer feeling than the saline implants and can create a very natural looking breast. Currently there are 2 types of silicone implants available - the cohesive gel implants that have been available for the last couple of years and the form stable implants that have become more recently available. The earlier implants are softer and more natural feeling than the newer form stable implants. However, a very natural shape can be obtained by both and for thin women, the form stable implants can have less rippling. The choice of implant is especially important in thin women with smaller breasts. In these cases, there is less breast tissue to cover the implants, and the implants make up the majority of breast volume. Silicone implants are more important in these cases. When there is significant breast volume and soft tissue over the implants, the choice of implant becomes less important.I would suggest discussing the specific options for your chest with your plastic surgeon. They can go through the advantages and disadvantages of each type of implant with you, and help you select the best choice for your chest.Best of luck with your breast augmentation.Jeff Rockmore
If you have enough natural breast tissue relative to an implant, you can have saline or silicone filled implants and still feel/look natural. If you have little natural breast tissue, implant type is more important. The silicone implants generally feel more like natural breast tissue than do saline filled implants. Meet with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area and you can see either type for yourself. Best of luck to you.
Dear Kelli, There are 3 kinds of implants : saline, silicone and cohesive. My prefered implants are smooth round moderate profile saline implants made by Mentor for the following reasons : 1. A small entry incision is in the sub arela area which is favorable for scar as oppose to the other implants where large size implants require long incision in the sub mammary area which is less favorable for scar. 2. This is realy important. Since the incision for saline implants is under the areola, it allows for easier implant's pocket dissection , so a larger pocket can be created with nice and smooth cleavage and more precise positioning of the sub mammary crease as oppose to the other technique where the incision is quite far from the cleavage area and cumbersome for the creation of the new crease. 3. Cost of saline implant is 1/3 of the other implants. Other 2 important elements of the natural looking breasts are the pocket location and post operative displacement massage. The sub muscular pocket gives better and thicker coverage of the implants and the displacement massage reduced dramatically the occurance of capsule contracture and hardening of the breasts. Always consult with board certified plastic surgeons and check their before and after pictures to make sure that you like the results. Also, make sure that their pictures are numerous and consistent and that they have good reviews. Best of luck, Dr Widder
Is my opinionthe implants placed under the muscle tend to have a softer and more naturallook because the muscle drapes gently over the top of the implant. Whenimplants are placed above the muscle, particularly in the very thin patient theresult can look like a coconut stuck to the chest. There is alsoclear evidence that capsular contracture rates and infection are lowerwhen implants are placed under the muscle and that mammography is better. For my athletic patients, which is about 99% of my practice, when they go tothe gym and bench press or weight lift the implants will look less natural forthat moment in time because the pectoral muscle pushes on the implants. But for the 97% of their lives, not bench pressing or weight lifting asubmuscular implant I believe he is a much more natural appearance. Whilea woman with a fuller breast can sometimes hide a subglandular implant prettywell, a subglandular implant can burn bridges for patients who might want abreast lift in the future. A subglandular implant separates the breasttissue from the muscle. If the patient wants a lift in the future the bloodsupply to the nipple and the areola is more in jeopardy. Best wishes.
You are right that 25cc is not much of a difference. There are two ways to look at this. You can just go with the slightly larger implants because it's only about a 5 teaspoon difference or you could go with the smaller size because you can always wear a push up bra to make your...
This really depends on how long ago you had your surgery and the technique used for stitching your nipples. However, I think it would be sensible to go back and see your plastic surgeon so they can analyse the situation and advise you on the best way forward for you. In many cases simple...
There will be no visible difference between these two implants. They are almost identical in size. For instance, if you are using Mentor implants, both have 4.8 cm of projection. There is a 3 millimeter difference in base width, 11.7cm vs 12cm. I would highly doubt that you will be able to see...
