I have a breast lift scheduled and I'm getting nervous . My doctor has old fashioned techniques, Im worried he will place my nipple too high and cause a stargazing effect. How can I approach my doctor about this ? Im worried to a point where I want to cancel my appointment, please advice .
Answer: Nipples too high Even with old fashioned techniques, standard breast measurements and markings should still give you a good result. If you are concerned with your surgeon's practice, open a frank discussion about what your concerns are specifically before surgery to emphasize what you are worried about. A transparent dialogue often helps reduce anxiety and stress before surgery and can help with understanding what to expect after surgery too. Hope this helps.

Answer: Upcoming breast surgery Hello, This is a good question, and a common concern. At your pre-surgical discussion, this should be on your list and should be emphasized as one of your concerns. You can ask the doctor if he will avoid placing your nipples too high, and also ask to view before and after photos of his own patients who have undergone the same procedure. Best,Dr. Tanovic

Answer: How to approach doctor about placing nipples too high? Standard measurements are used to determine the ideal position of the nipples, but there is some margin for aesthetic preferences. All techniques take this into consideration. Placing nipples too high can be a problem as they can peak out above a bra or swimsuit. If this is a concern, you should discuss this with your surgeon. He or she will appreciate your input when planning the surgery.

Answer: Surgery Just ask him not to place your nipples to high. Most of us use measurements to accurately place the nipples. If you can, bring photos of someone whose breasts you like.

Answer: Look at before/after pictures, but definitely discuss before surgery Hello and thank you for your question. Everything ultimately comes down to having a trusting surgeon patient relationship. You should feel comfortable discussing or asking your surgeon anything- after all, regardless of how many times they have performed the procedure, this might be your first time undergoing surgery. Before / After pictures of similar patients undergoing the same procedure can help guide expectations and hopefully alleviate your anxiety. That said, you should definitely have the conversation with your surgeon in advance so you both know exactly what to expect, get an opportunity to address your concerns, and both feel comfortable with how the procedure will be performed prior to proceeding. I hope this helps! Best wishes, Dr. Donald Groves Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Speaking to your surgeon It is vitally important to have open and honest communication with your surgeon. Your surgeon wants this as much as you do! Review before/after photos of your surgeon's work and point out photos of results that you like. Discuss your concerns. Learn about what you can expect. Communication from both parties is needed to help you achieve the look you want.
