How to approach doctor about placing nipples too high?

Standard measurements are used to determine the ideal position of the nipples, but there is some margin for aesthetic preferences. All techniques take this into consideration. Placing nipples too high can be a problem as they can peak out above a bra or swimsuit. If this is a concern, you should discuss this with your surgeon. Generally, I would keep in mind that regardless of where the nipple appears after surgery, that over time with gravity the soft tissues of the breast may descend causing the nipple to look in a 'different' location over time... all the best

At your pre-surgical discussion, this should be on your list and should be emphasized as one of your concerns. You can ask the doctor if he will avoid placing your nipples too high, and also ask to view before and after photos of his own patients who have undergone the same procedure.

You should feel comfortable discussing or asking your surgeon anything- after all, regardless of how many times they have performed the procedure, this might be your first time undergoing surgery. Before / After pictures of similar patients undergoing the same procedure can help guide expectations and hopefully alleviate your anxiety. That said, you should definitely have the conversation with your surgeon in advance so you both know exactly what to expect, get an opportunity to address your concerns, and both feel comfortable with how the procedure will be performed prior to proceeding. I recommend you discuss this point with your doctor ASAP. I like straight forward conversations with my patients. If I feel that the patient doesn’t have confidence in my expertise or advice. We aren’t a right match. Trust and communication are essential for a good human relationship. Patient physician relationships are based on trust. You can also get a second opinion and then decide. There is no rush to go in to a plastic surgery.

The technique I recommend is The Bellesoma Method. Hi, thank you for this question. I think the most important aspect to scheduling any procedure is to make sure you resonate with and trust your surgeon. You are going on a journey together and it is so important to work with someone who you trust completely. If going into surgery you are not sure about the techniques he or she uses or whether or not you will be happy with the results this can be a recipe for a difficult doctor patient relationship moving forward. If you really like this surgeon because of his or her personality, bedside manner, etc than just be honest and express that the one thing you are concerned with is having nipples that are placed too high and see how they respond. They should be receptive to your goals.

I think it's reasonable to ask the doctor to show you exactly where the new nipple position will be. The doctore can even show you how they mark and measure it out relative to the landmarks such as the sternal notch, inframammary fold, and midline. I do this with every patient so that they are crystal clear on the details of the procedure and feel completely comfortable with proceeding with the surgery. We perform this procedure under local anesthesia in the office. No general anesthesia!
