A breast lift can improve breast shape and remove some loose skin, but it usually does not remove stretch marks on the upper breast. Stretch marks are changes within the skin itself. If the marked skin is part of the skin that is removed during the lift, those marks may be reduced, but stretch marks above the nipple or on the upper breast are often left in place because removing that skin would usually distort the breast shape or scar pattern. After a lift, the skin is tightened and the breast is reshaped, so some stretch marks may look flatter or less noticeable, but they generally do not disappear. The final appearance depends on skin quality, how much loose skin needs to be removed, nipple position, and the lift pattern used. Laser, microneedling, or topical treatments may slightly improve color or texture in selected cases, but they are usually modest. An in-person exam is the best way to show which stretch-marked areas would be removed and which would likely remain.
