About 4 years ago I had scoliosis surgery and got a DVT in my leg afterwards. The blood clot has been cleared but I still get tightness in it if I sit too long/do too much strenuous exercise. My left leg is slightly larger than my right leg, as well. I still want to get a BBL but I'm worried it might further exacerbate my symptoms. Would I still be a good candidate?
Answer: Can I get a Brazilian Butt lift after deep vein thrombosis in my leg? This is tricky. I would not promise a yes. I would have clearance by vascular surgery and hematology. Even still you are at high risk. We would have to determine if the risk of surgery is appropriate.

Answer: Can I get a Brazilian Butt lift after deep vein thrombosis in my leg? Swelling to the bilateral lower extremities is common after lipo and BBL. This swelling can last months to a year AND would certainly be worse in the leg that is already affected/compromised by a previous DVT. What is more scary in your situation is the fact that you have developed a DVT before. In the scenario of another surgery, we would worry you may develop another DVT or even an PE and this can lead to death. You should see your hematologist to see if they feel comfortable with an elective cosmetic surgery and what their recommendations are for peri-operative treatment. You then need to find a PS in your area that feels comfortable operating on you and will follow the hematologist's recommendations.

Answer: Can I get a Brazilian Butt lift after deep vein thrombosis in my leg? Thank you for your questions. Likely it is not a good idea based on previous risk and ongoing issues. However, with a thorough workup and evaluation from a heme/onc specialist and clearance, as well as likely being placed on some type of DVT preventative in the peri-op period, there might be some plastic surgeons willing to proceed. That being said, you are certainly at elevated risk compared to normal. Best of luck! Dallas Buchanan, MD VIVIFY plastic surgery Tampa, FL

Answer: BBL candidate Dear CORAlove1, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. You will need to get a clearance from your doctor prior to surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Thorough evaluation Hi, I would advise for good hematological evaluation before undergoing surgery. It's definitely a high risk surgery after an episode of DVT. Choose a good accredited hospital and a certified plastic surgeon for proper evaluation.
