Treatment for big blue vein on the tip of nose in 5 year old? (Photo)

Nasal veins in a 5 year old is certainly not something that I commonly see.  A better picture would be helpful but from what I can see, the options for treatment would be laser or sclerotherapy.  You would need to see someone with experience treating children with this kind of a vein problem.

Very few adult vein specialists will treat 5 year olds because it is difficult to work on a 5 year old using topical anesthesia. Your best best would be to see a pediatric surgeon or otolaryngologist with laser credentials to evaluate and treat him/her. They could give your child IV sedation and treat this vein easily.with laser or needle RF technology, and rarely sclerotherapy. Pediatric dermatologists with hospital privileges or who work in a hospital setting can also take care of this, or a pediatric plastic surgeon who deals with congenital vascular malformations, as they routinely treat much more complex lesions of the head and neck (AVM, venous malformations, capillary malformations, lymphatic malformations, etc etc). Best Dr. Karamanoukian
