Is the Picoway or the Q-switch laser more effective in removal of hemosiderin brownish (iron) skin staining due to sclerotherapy-treated leg spider veins from many years ago that has not resolved on its own? Or some other treatment? Bleaching is too surface.
Answer: Hyperpigmentation On Face/Body -- Clear + Brilliant/Viva, Microneelding/PRP, Skin lightening/Peels, Aerolase, Pico Laser A lot of options can be used to treat hyperpigmentation, I am not sure the pico laser is the best treatment for this but would not be a bad option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Hemosiderin staining. Both the q Switch and the picoway lasers help with hemosiderin staining. Sometimes topical creams such as dermaka and licorice extract topically will help. Most importantly, a large portion of staining will spontaneously resolve over about one year.

Answer: Q switched lasers or PicoWay for hyprepigmented skin following sclerotherapy? Thank you for your question.I have experience with Q switched lasers and they work veery well for hemosiderin pigment which is the underlying cause for PIH with sclerotherapy. The use of two topical cremes is advocated immediately after sclerotherapy to reduce hyperpigmentation (see link below) along with an oral supplement called Scler-X. This is a PIH Relief Complex.Dr. Karamanoukian
