Is it safe to do foam sclerotherapy on hand veins? Dont we need all these veins?

I do this often but only in patients who have a lot of hand veins AND have veins in their arms.  In the future, if you were to need IV fluids you don't want to have no veins for access.  Veins can be camoflaged with fillers too. Please only see an expert for this.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Thank you for your question in regards to sclerotherapy. Depending on the size of the vein, it may be possible to have developed some trapped blood which would need to be drained and is common with larger veins. It is also too early to notice full results, especially if the vein was large. To...

Can I cut the foot off the compression stocking?

Thank you for your question in regards to sclerotherapy. Cutting off the foot of your compression hose is not typically recommended. If cut, the compression loses its grade of support and could also cause swelling. I would suggest open toe stockings at least so your toes can be out. To be sure, ...

I suggest speaking to your physician.  bruising, clots and color change can occur for weeks to months after treatment.  Best, Dr. Emer.
