I am not quite sure how this can be quantified with a specific number. If there is any incision around the areola, the risk is higher compared to just placing an implant. The risk varies with the surgical plane; the risk is lowest below the muscle because the nerve runs on top of the pectoralis major muscle and up through the gland to the areola.

The risk of losing nipple sensation after breast augmentation/breast lift surgery is very low. Temporary numbness or hypersensitivity of the nipple area can occur, but generally improves after a few months but it can take up to two years for complete recovery.

Permanent nipple sensation loss is very low too.

I suggest that you seek an in person consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon specializing in Breast surgeries to further discuss your options, specific techniques, concerns and expectations. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.

Tuberous breast can be a difficult problem to deal with, but most women can get substantial improvement in a subglandular augmentation. The old school augmentation with the incision through the nipple really isnt needed. With a subglandular augmentation, the risk of total nipple sensation loss is EXTREMELY low. Most patients regain full nipple sensation. You could have this performed through an incision in your fold under your breast. If you needed a breast lift or nipple reduction this could be performed after everything heals and the implants settle but you may not need to do that at all.
