Swelling worsening after CoolSculpting, 4 wks post op to flanks and abdomen.

Question

I received coolscultping about 4 weeks ago to my flanks and abdomen. During week 1 post-treatment, I was swollen around my abdomen which had then resolved during week 2. Today (week 5) the swelling around my abdomen is returning. Can this happen? Have other patients say the swelling resolved and then returned again?

This should be not occurring at this time.  I think you should have this evaluated medically hopefully by the clinic that treated you to rule out possibilities of infection vs other medical reasons.

Swelling can occur immediately post treatment  but you should start seeing results 3-5 weeks post-treatment.  My recommendation is to follow-up with your CoolSculpting provider to rule out possibilities of infection. If swelling persists, seek out a board-certified dermatologist for a second opinion. Always ensure your provider is board-certified or an expert in their field to ensure you’re getting the best treatment possible. Post treatment acoustic massage has helped to minimize swelling in our clinic.

Thank you for your question. Swelling after CoolSculpting usually subsides permanently in one to two weeks, so it is concerning that significant swelling has returned. I recommend that you talk to your CoolSculpting provider and your doctor to ensure that there is nothing serious going on. Good luck!
