The condition itself - PAH - is quite rare in general. I don't think the new applicators have changed the statistical likelihood of getting PAH.
The company reports a much reduced incidence of PAH (paroxysmal adipose hypertrophy) using the new applicators though in my practice I have only seen 1 case of PAH in 5 years.
I have not seen any PAH with CoolSculpting using the new applicators. To be fair though, I also did not see any with the old applicators, although I know some physicians did.

Thus far, there have been no reported true cases of PAH after being treated with the Cool Advantage Coolsculpting Applicators. Even with the legacy suction applicators, PAH was very rare occurring in just .025% of treated patients. There are now protocols in place to correct PAH.
I would wait a few days after Coolsculpting to resume other modalities that you frequently use. I don't think that it will have any effect on your treatment. Best, Dr. Gren

It is NOT a required step after Coolsculpting. The reason some offices do this is #1) to help clean the treatment area and #2) to help bring in more blood flow while massaging the tissue, which can help in breaking down the fat following Coolsculpting.
