Will losing 30 pounds after BA affect results?

Question

I am 5 ' 2" and weigh 140 pounds. My ideal weight is 110. I got my BA two weeks ago and am wondering how weight loss will affect my new look. When I gain weight or lose weight, it is never in my breasts, and I have very good skin elasticity. I am 18 years old, so my body tends to be resilient to any weight changes in regards to skin elasticity and sagging.

The short answer is, yes, if you lose weight, your breast will get slightly smaller, but so will all other areas of your body so your body proportions will stay the same.  There are some slight variations in this, such as women who have nearly all glandular tissue for breast tissue as opposed to mostly fatty tissue for breast tissue.  The ones with glandular tissue would not decrease as much, while people with fatty tissue would see a more of a decrease.  Best wishes.

Hello,Thank you for your question. Typically, people do notice a difference in their breasts with significant weight changes. You may find that the implants appear more obvious with less fat covering them or that your breast size shrinks a little. All the best

Losing 30 pounds may affect the distribution of the fat in your breasts. The fat offers soft-tissue coverage which not only makes your breasts appear full and soft, but also helps cover the implant. It is your perception that you don't lose anything from the breasts, but when you lose weight, the body naturally removes fat from all over the body in a consistent fashion. Now some areas of the body will be given preference naturally while other body areas will lose fat slower and after more effort than other areas (e.g., belly fat). A variable to consider is your body type. If you have a gynoid body type then fat is often concentrated below the waistline, in areas such as the hips, thighs,
legs. An android body
type has fat concentrated above the waistline, in areas such as the arms,
axilla, back, hips, tummy, and breasts. If you have a gynoid body type, then weight reduction may not significantly affect your fat distribution in the breast. 
 Now since you already had the BBA, it may be a good idea to talk to your surgeon about the after effects, and possibly choose a weight loss goal that is a bit more less. If the BBA results do not seem to be effected after initial weight loss reduction, you may continue to slowly reduce your weight until you reach a healthy weight.  Hope this helps.

Thank you for your question.  A 30 pound weight loss may affect your breast augmentation result, but there are many variables.  The fact that you are young and have good skin elasticity are to your benefit. Most of us lose weight gradually, so you can adjust your goals based on your results.

Good question, and one it seems like you may already know the answer to! If your history of weight gain or loss hasn’t had much impact on your breast size, you probably don’t have much to worry about if you lose the weight you want to. However, it’s better in general if you try your best to maintain a stable, healthy weight. Again, everyone’s body is affected differently by weight loss and gain, so as long as you are satisfied with the results, you should be just fine.

The breast is composed of glandular breast tissue and fat.  At age 18 it is very likely that most of your breast volume is glandular.  If this is the case it is unlikely that losing weight will make a big change in your breasts.  The fact that it loss in the past did not seem to affect her breasts is a further encouraging factor.

I always tell my patients during consultation that they should be within 10-15 lbs. of their ideal weight before having this surgery to minimize the chance that weight loss will affect their outcome. Even though you think you don't gain or lose much from your breasts if you lose 30# some of it will come from your breasts.  That being said, even if your breasts are slightly smaller, your body will be so much slimmer that your breasts may actually look bigger than they do now because of the change in proprotions.You will be healthier at the lower weight so go ahead and adopt a healthier life style. (Be sure to use good eating habits to get there and stay there.  No starvation diets!)
