Question

I am 17 weeks post op with a tt with mr and lipo of flanks. Every day I get huge as indicated in the pictures. I feel like at this point the swelling shouldn't be as drastic as it us but it gets worse as time goes on Is this normal at this stage?

Thank you very much for sharing your concerns with us.At this point (4months post-po) the swelling have to be minimal.To reduce it, I recommend you perform daily lymphatic drainage massage therapy over the abdomen and wear a postoperative girdle from thigh to the breasts.If the fter six months post-op, I recommend you send us your photos again, to give you more information about how we can solve this problem.Kind regards,Dr. Emma Mallol Cotes.-

Everyone heals at a different rate, and if your body is still swelling, that means it is still in the active stage of healing.  Wearing a compression garment and limiting your activity can help to decrease the swelling, but ultimately it will just take time for your body to heal.  Make sure your surgeon is aware of your issues as well.  Best of luck with your recovery!

You can have swelling at this stage in recovery and it may be worse with increased activity or salt intake.  Over the next few months it should improve again.  Continue to follow up with your PS.
