I always thought that cosmetic surgery wasn’t for people “like me.” That it was only for the rich and famous. And that I should just be grateful for my body and all that it has done for me. Then one day, my OBGYN asked me if I’d ever considered a breast reduction. I laughed and said “What? I can’t afford that!” I thought she was crazy. Who did she think I was? Then, to my surprise, she informed me that most insurance companies cover it. Many of her patients have had it done and the only regret any of them had was not doing it sooner. Game changer. I thought about it for nearly 2 years before making the call. After much research I did a consultation with 2 surgeons. Dr. McMahan was, without a doubt, the best choice. He thoroughly explained the procedure, and took the time to answer all of my questions. I hesitantly inquired about a tummy tuck as well. His answers eased my fears. He was professional and in no way pressured me to do both. I am very short, and like many, had pretty significant ab separation after having my son. I’m a petite person, but my stomach stuck out so far that I looked like I was 4-5 months pregnant. There was nothing I could do about it. I tried exercises, diet, even physical therapy. It was a nightmare to find clothes that fit my body. I was so self conscious and didn’t feel like myself at all. It was tough. Then…. I finally did it! I had a combined breast reduction and tummy tuck surgery. Recovery was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I needed a lot help for the first few days, but I was back to my normal routine in less than 2 weeks. I’m not saying I was fully recovered by any means, but I could get around, drive, and take care of myself, and head back to work (desk job) within that time frame. Full recovery is a process. I am now 6 months post op. I went from a size 34DDD to a 34C. My abs have been put back together (note: Dr. McMahan does a double layer of stitches so there is virtually no chance of it coming undone. Not everyone does this so be sure to ask). I have never felt more like myself. I can do exercises that I couldn’t before because of my bust size. I can do planks and crunches now that my abs are back together. My upper and lower back pain is gone. I can wear a t-shirt without it looking like a tent. I can even wear a bikini! I truly thought that ship had sailed, and was ok with it. I can walk down the street or go to the beach without worrying about anything other than spending time with the people I’m with. My body is better now than it was in my 20s. This isn’t just for the rich and famous. It’s like I get to have a second chance. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Dr. McMahan is incredible and I am forever grateful for what he has done for me. This has changed my life!
Dr. McMahan and his staff are exceptional. I had reconstruction of my breast reconstruction. He is an amazing surgeon. I can actually sleep on my sides and my stomach. I am so pleased with my results.
I went to a new doctor for a breast implant reduction and labia plasty. I contacted his office to see if labia plasty was a procedure he performed as well and they responded yes. At my consultation and pre op I described that I only wanted a little bit of tissue removed from the middle of my inner labia where it curved out more than the rest of my labia And how I still wanted curvature to my labia with the remaining length. He discussed his suture method (running w) and explained that it would be good for what I desired. I also sent him Inspiration photos and even discussed with him a few days prior to the procedure that he would keep the length around my vaginal opening and not remove clitoral tissue. May 18th was my procedure which today would make me a week postop. I am left with a mangled clitoris and clitoral hood. And he left too little to no tissue on my left side and removed all inner labial tissue beneath my clitoris on my right side. And removed tissue on my clitoris and made deformities. Did basically everything I did not want and was very excessive with how much tissue that was removed. I feel mutilated I feel butchered and I just feel so empty. I did this hoping to give myself more confidence and I completely regret it. I need answers and I need advice. I feel completely stripped of my womanhood and I am a mother of three. I just feel so beyond heartbroken. Updated on 25 May 2023: Clitoral detachment This is where my Clit is detach from my non-existing labia/whatever tissue is left On both sides Severe clitoris pain and labia pain I don’t see this getting any better and I don’t know how this could be corrected. He literally did exactly what we didn’t discuss and I even have emails from three days prior. Updated on 26 May 2023: Better view of clitoral detachment I’m so confused. Three days prior to the surgery it was discussed that he wouldn’t touch the length around my vaginal opening nor the clitoral hood hit front or from top to bottom and removed all extra tissue and did something to make my clitoris look like this Updated on 7 Jun 2023: 3 weeks tomorrow. I feel disgusting I have lost feeling in my clitoris as well. I can’t believe this was done to me And I’m scared that there’s not gonna be enough tissue left to have reconstructive surgery I don’t know what to do or who to turn to. I’m in the adult industry as well so this is affecting my money and my children’s lives. Updated on 8 Nov 2023: It’s been over five months since my labia plasty. I would like to say that the results did turn out a little bit better than what I thought even though I still have quite a few concerns I have a revision scheduled for 12 November, and here are some updated pictures.
Five stars! I am amazed at the results that I’ve gotten after my tummy tuck with Dr McMahan. I am only 2 months post op, and could not be more pleased. His work far exceeds any expectations that I had. Choosing him as my surgeon was the best choice I could have made! I have my 20 year old body back after having 3 children. I have friends who have had tummy tucks with well known surgeons in LA and San Francisco, and they are all blown away about the quality of my results compared to their personal experience. My recovery was FAST. He told me it would be, but I truly was back to pretty normal life in less than a week. (Minus any heavy lifting) I was also able to combine my surgery with an OBGYN to have my tubes removed at the same time. Dr McMahan recommended the other doctor and they coordinated seamlessly to accomplish both of my goals with this surgery. Forever grateful.
I have been seeing Dr. McMahan since January for tattoo removal. I have completed three sessions so far, and have received so many compliments on how fast the removal has been as well as how light the tattoo is looking so far. Dr. McMahan went through every step with me, even detailing how I should apply the numbing cream prior to treatment. (Follow the directions exactly and you will not feel a thing!) The PicoSure Laser Pro is extremely fast. The entire procedure takes less than a minute. I have attached a before/after photo after just two treatments. Dr. McMahan is personable, and honestly very entertaining. I really look forward to my appointments, which would generally be something I would dread. His office staff is incredibly friendly as well.
I had an exceptional experience with Dr. McMahon in doing a reconstruction of my breast reconstruction from 2002. My implants had ruptured and moved. Dr. McMahon and his team were very helpful and explained everything each step of the way until my surgery. My surgery and recovery were a success! Thank you Dr. McMahon!
I needed a tattoo removed for a job I was applying for over 8 years ago. Dr. McMahan was one of the few places that could do laser removal at the time. His price was fair and I’m extremely happy with the results. If I didn’t tell you I had a tattoo you would never know it used to be there. The job has changed my life for the better and I would not have gotten it if it hadn’t been for Dr. McMahan working with me to get the removal done. I have since gone to him for other procedures. The experience in his officer is always pleasant.
After 15 years of having permanent eyeliner, I decided to remove it due to discoloration and also my age. It was important that I find a doctor with the Pico laser and also the ocular shields. Dr. McMahan had them! My consultation was informative and my first treatment got about 65%. I had 2 more treatments and it is almost all gone! I am thrilled with my results and definitely recommend Dr. McMahan!!!
I got consultations from several doctors before making my decision on a surgeon. I loved Dr. McMahan's knowledge and straight forward personality. He told me the truth about what to expect and didn't just tell me what I wanted to hear. What was actually possible v's what I wanted to be exact. I absolutely love my results; they are far above what my expectations were. I will definitely be using this Dr for future procedures. Yet another reason I chose him, he does it all. I love that I will have one Dr who is already familiar with me for everything i will have done rather than having to find another Dr for future procedures.
Dr McMahan is wonderful!!! During my consultation he listened to my concerns and talked through my questions - I never felt rushed - he has a no nonsense bedside manner that I appreciate. Helped set realistic goals and expectations. Appts were easy to make. My breast reduction surgery went smoothly - everyone involved from admissions to recovery room were top notch. I am thrilled with the results! I would definitely recommend and hope to work with them again. Thank you Dr McMahan and team!!
Congratulations on your weight loss! You appear to be an excellent candidate for a reverse tummy tuck to tighten up and remove loose skin above your umbilicus. It is generally an easy recovery as muscle tightening is not normally included in the procedure. It is done as an outpatient under anesthesia and there are typically drains in place that are removed in just a few days. For more information or to schedule an appointment for a consultation, please call 614-459-0060. J. McMahan, M.D., Columbus, Ohio
Thank you for your inquiry and photograph. You appear to be a good candidate for a standard tummy tuck with plication of the rectus muscle. It looks like a lot of skin will come off so the scar may have to be taken farther out to the sides but I would not call that an extended tuck. Be sure to see a surgeon who is experienced, board certified and who uses both tumescent infiltration and Exparel which provides up to three days of pain relief and makes your recovery dramatically easier.
Thank you for your inquiry and I'm sorry for your issue. It was caused by a poorly planned incision by your surgeon. The curvilinear ellipse of skin should have been a gentle "S" shape where it upturns at the lateral canthus to lay along the natural skin creases in that area. Your surgeons incision never took the upturn and was more of a gentle "C" shape so that the scar went across the natural skin lines resulting in the webbing that you are seeing. I would see a more experienced or reputable surgeon for a revision.
Thank you for your question. Whoever told your sister that she was allergic reaction to the sutures is lying. Pure and simple. Your sister had an infection. Likely someone in her surgeons office blamed the infection on the sutures in an effort to divert responsibility for the complication. Sutures are absolutely necessary to close incisions and repair the hernia as well as to tighten the abdominal muscles. "Rejection" of sutures almost never happens. Stop worrying.
Based on your photos alone, 300cc's should be fine. Not too big and not too small. But the advise of implants on top of the muscle is very bad. The pressure from the implants will cause your breast tissue to shrink slightly. As a result, over time you will likely see wrinkling and rippling of the implants. Your implants will be easier to feel and have a higher risk of capsular contracture which can also increase the risk of rupture. Implants on top of the muscle get in the way more when doing mammograms making it harder to find breast cancers in the future. I strongly advise that you have your implants put under the muscle.
