I love my results my surgeon is absolutely amazing. I just forgot to ask these few questions when I last met with him. I also would like to know if it's true that if I sleep on my tummy with my face against the pillow if that could possibly ruin the final result of the shape of my nose; And can I return to working out now that my cast is off?
Answer: Healing after rhinoplasty. The little bumps that you are concerned about appear to be from having clogged pores. Frequently the tape and glue that is used for creating the splint following rhinoplasty can cause the pores to become clogged. Essentially it is a minor break out that should resolve very quickly. I would encourage you to use normal face wash and avoid picking at the bumps. With regard to returning to exercise, light physical activity is typically OK at this point. I would call your surgeon and ask for is definitive recommendations about physical activity and when you can increase the intensity of your workouts. You should not be sleeping on your stomach or doing anything that can apply pressure to the nose. Although things have certainly begun to heal, excessive pressure on the nose can certainly result in compromising the final outcome. To be on the safe side, You should protect the nose for at least 4 to 6 weeks. Best regards.

Answer: Rhinoplasty Post-op The little bumps that you see are the result of the glue from the undersurface of the tape causing little blockages in your pores. The nasal skin will also appear more oily for some time as the oil glands work in overdrive to clear your pores. This will eventually go away -- I generally have my patients use alcohol swabs to gently cleanse the nasal skin, but you should ask your surgeon his/ her preference. You definitely shouldn't be sleeping on your stomach at this time. Be in contact with your surgeon to make sure that you are following his/ her preferred post-operative instructions.I wish you well!Parker A. Velargo, MD

Answer: Swelling after rhinoplasty The swelling can take 6 months to a year to go down, with the tip usually being the last part of the swelling to resolve. You will likely see changes even after that. Make an effort to avoid any nasal trauma particularly during the first 6 weeks after surgery.

Answer: Results after Rhinoplasty The bumps on your nose are likely a result of the adhesive used with your splint. They usually resolve within one week. You should avoid any pressure on your nose (laying face-down) for an extended period of time after rhinoplasty. In general, physical exercise will not affect your nose, unless you are at risk for sustaining any trauma to your nose. It is important to communicate your concerns to your surgeon for exact recommendations, based on your procedure

Answer: Just had my cast removed. How long will it take for these bumps and stiffness from the swolleness to go away? The bumps are secretions from clogged pores anmd will go away with gentle cleansing. It is best to avoid any position that will cause pressure to your nose for at least 6 weeks as this may cause a shift in your nasal structure and your result.
