Is a full tummy tuck with muscle repair and 360 lipo the right choice for me? (Photos)

Question

I have booked a full tummy tuck with muscle repair and 360 lipo for May 10th. Does that seem to be the right choice for my body? I have had three children and significant weight loss over 5 years. My weight has been steady for the last three and I am happy being a curvy woman. I want to be free of this apron of fat! I went to achieve a flatter tummy.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, you are a great candidate for a tummy tuck with liposuction.  This can be done through a low incision, all completely below the bikini line.  The belly button can be designed to look natural and have no scars on the exterior.   Your muscles can also be plicated resulting in a flat abdomen.  Back liposuction can be performed at the same time for improved back and waist contour.  Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.

Along with the tummy tuck, liposuction allows your plastic surgeon to transform your entire shape. You improve your waist, back and flanks.
In general, you need to be physically healthy and at a stable weight, have realistic expectations, be a non-smoker and your BMI needs to be 30 or less.

Thank you for your question. Liposuction will remove fat but your abdominal skin will get loose and saggy. So it really depends on your desired goals. A tummy tuck will treat the loose skin and tighten the abdominal muscles an help you narrow your waist line. BMI of 30 is recommended for health and safety reasons. It will also help you optimize your results. 
Seek a board certified plastic surgeon who performs many of these procedures, has great reviews and photos, and is an expert in this field.

Generally speaking, the “ideal” patient for tummy tuck surgery is one who has completed pregnancies, is psycho socially/emotionally/financially stable, has an excellent social support system surrounding him/her, is capable of arranging enough recovery time, does not smoke and who has reached a long-term stable weight.
