Weight loss after fat transfer: will I lose my boobs?

Question

I'm (30 f) considering a natural fat transfer breast augmentation. I'm currently 145 lb 5'6", the heaviest I've ever been. I would like to turn some of that extra flab into boobs! Currently A cup, have always been AA ("mosquito bite" boobs). But will I ruin my fat transfer if I lose weight afterward? Should I wait a certain amount of time post-transfer? Or lose weight first?

Hello @kricket232 thank you for your question and for showing your picture. An on-site or virtual consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon is the best way to determine an appropriate intervention by assessing your individual characteristics as well as your goal look. Keep in mind that a breast fat transfer needs a liposuction. I generally perform liposculture first, the fat extracted from different areas of the body will go through a process and is injected into the breast through a cannula and a small incision, so in the long term the patient has harmonious and aesthetically adequate result. generally speaking, you want to reach your goal weight before you consider a surgery, otherwise your results will be suboptimal if you continue to lose weight after the surgery. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

Always loose weight first prior to getting a fat transfer, or you may loose your fat. If you are a true "A" or "AA", you will need implants. You may not have enough breast tissue to support much fat.

Good morning,
The short answer is, yes. If you lose weight after fat transfer, the transferred fat will also shrink. It also depends on your goals for size as fat transfer can allow for minimal to moderate increase in size but not drastic changes in size. We usually ask patients to be at their goal weight for a period of 3 months prior to surgery but you would need to be seen in person to assess your anatomy and goals. Make sure you see a board certified plastic surgeon. Best of luck!

How many pounds do you think you’re going to lose?

If you gain or lose weight you will do it currently with your current fat distribution and after the procedure it will be in your new fat distribution. No question that weight loss will reduce the size of your breast to some degree either way.
The more fat you have in your breast the more they are going to fluctuate with weight changes.
