45 yrs old, 5'4", normal bmi, no kids, underwent a breast fat transfer procedure approx. 2 yrs back. Underwent liposuction without any kind of fat transfer just 3 months back. Want to go for a second round of breast fat transfer. How long do i need to wait if i want to use some of the recently liposuctioned areas as donor areas for the fat transfer? Also, would the fat obtained be of good quality? Would the transferred graft take?
Answer: Fat Assuming you have fat available in the areas that have had liposuction, you will need to wait at least six months from surgery before trying another liposuction.

Answer: Secondary Liposuction Most plastic surgeons recommend waiting six months before doing liposuction in a previously treated area. Define harvested should work for grafting but the amount of fat that can be harvested is usually only about 25% of the primary procedure but this varies on how the first procedure was performed. Ideally those looking to have multiple rounds of fat transfer should not throw away fat from Liposuction but you are probably aware of that at this point. Consideration should be given to all body areas that may serve as a donor areas for fat and give decent liposuction results. After treating the entire torso including the under arms and back my next go to area for women is usually the arms or possibly inner thighs. I suggest you discuss with your provider. If you haven’t selected a provider for your upcoming procedure then have consultations to get all your questions answered. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
