The bruising by itself is not worrisome. The shape and position of the implants this early after surgery is also not abnormal. I would check with the plastic surgeon to be sure.
Firmness and swelling 5 days after a breast augmentation is not unusual, but should be starting to subside. You should follow up with your plastic surgeon for reassurance. Not sure why you have a bruised hip, so I would also have your plastic surgeon look at this as well.
Your photo does not show any obvious abnormality to the breasts. The normal at 5 days post-op is to experience tight, swollen breasts with high riding implants. These should continue to improve daily and the implants settle to their final position over the coming months. Regarding the bruising and swelling to the hips, this should be examined by your plastic surgeon to make sure nothing abnormal is going on. Hopefully just some bruising, but an examination would help determine that. Good Luck.
Normally the swelling from a breast augmentation increases for the first 4-5 days and usually peaks about day 5. Since that is about where you are, you are the point of peak swelling and greatest tightness. The breast tissues were put on stretch to cover the implants and that stretch has been worsened by the swelling. Consequently, they will feel tight and hard.It will take about 6-8 weeks for 80% of that swelling to resolve, although after about a month they'll start to look much better. The last 20% may take a few months more. Complete softening may take 4-6 months for all of the tissues to stretch and relax around the implants.Occasionally, there will be some bruising after a breast augmentation. This is usually minor and resolves in a week.
It is not unusual for breasts to be hard and swollen just 5 days after surgery. Bruising is also common. For your peace of mind, please let your surgeon know your concerns.
At 5 days post op your breasts are going to be very swollen, hard, and immobile. It will take 6 weeks to 3 months for the swelling to subside and your breasts to feel more natural. As for the bruise, ask your surgeon.
Follow up with your surgeon to make sure you have only swelling and no hematoma. Donald R. Nunn MD Atlanta Plastic Surgeon
At only 5 days it is still very early in the healing process after breast augmentation. As the implants soften, settle and drop the breast shape and appearance will change. It usually takes 2-3 months before you begin to see your final result. Be sure to keep any scheduled follow up appointments you have for his evaluation and advice. Everything looks great so far! Good luck! Dean Vistnes.
Thank you for your question. I often recommend that patients find a sports bra that opens in the front and that is comfortable to wear. They can take breaks during the day and I also encourage breast massage after a week. It is important for your implants to move around and develop a...
I think after 6-8 weeks, a sufficient capsule has formed around a submuscular implant and exercises that recruit the pectoralis major muscle are not a problem. Patients do experience some 'animation deformity' issues when moving the pectoralis major muscle over a submuscular implant - but this...
From your photos it does appear that your implants are still too high. Typically implants will have dropped by this phase post op. I encourage you to discuss your concerns with your surgeon. It may be that surgical intervention will be necessary to get the implants seated correctly in the...
