The laboratory tests that you need prior to any surgery are dictated by your medical conditions and the guidelines for outpatient surgery.
Pre-operative blood work not only depends upon what surgery is being performed but also the age and overall health of the patient. In addition to your surgeon, your primary care doctor is instrumental in clearing you for surgery. Glad to help.
Hello, pre op testing depends on the patients age and medical history. I advise my patients over the age of 50 to have complete testing such as EKG, chest xray, labs and medical clearance from their primary doctor. Under the age of 50 lab testing to check your hemoglobin and for anemia. Every surgeon is different. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in the procedures you desire.Jaime Perez M. D.Plastic Surgery Center of Tampa
Pre-op lab work depends on patient age and history. If a healthy woman under 50 is having these procedures with a normal systems review, no history of anemia, then no blood work is needed. If there is a history of heavy periods or pregnancy with anemia, a CBC (or just a hemoglobin and hematocrit) could be done. A pregnancy test is sometimes done if there is any chance of pregnancy at the time of surgery.
The surgeon you select should know everything about your past medical and surgical history and be able to make a determination about what labs should be ordered, the need for EKG, the need for medical clearance, the need for anticoagulation, the appropriateness of the surgical intervention based upon the risk factors and current physique, etc.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
It can vary from surgeon and anesthesiologist preference. We order an EKG, CBC, and Comprehensive panel on all tummy tucks and full body liposuction patients for general anesthesia. The board certified plastic surgeon you choose should be able to make the appropriate choice for any and all testing for the specific procedures you opt to have.Thank you for your question and all the best!
Thank you for the question. Each surgeon has it's own perspective on what test are required before your surgery, I suggest for you to follow your PS's instructions.Dr. Campos
Your doctor will answer that question because he/she knows your health status and we don't. Routinely, for a typically healthy person under 50-60 no blood work would be necessary in most cases.
In most cases, a CBC and urinalysis is performed prior to a tummy tuck and Brazilian butt lift. Depending on one's age and health, other tests such as an EKG, serum glucose, electolytes, and liver or kidney panel may be necessary. Always check with your primary doctor, prior to any elective surgery, to see what they would suggest. Best wishes.

Thanks for sharing your photos.Generally fat transfer for buttock augmentation does require large volumes. It is normal to inject 750-1000 cc to each side. A good exam with a board certified plastic surgeon can help you determine how much could be obtained by liposuction.Best of Luck
Hi and Thank you for the question. I am sorry about the passing of your surgeon. To answer your question more accurately I will need a little more information. Did you lose a lot of weight? What surgeries have you already had? A buttock lift can be done by itself or with a spiral thigh left or...
