Hi, thank you for sharing your question. You will not be required to remove your birth control device for this procedure. I hope this helps.
Hi, thanks for your question. Typically you don't need to remove your birth control implant prior to your liposuction procedure, unless the implant is in an area where liposuction is being performed. Please speak to your surgeon about this and any other questions you might have about your surgery.
you do not have to remove your implant before getting liposuction, I suggest seeing an expert and ensuring proper aftercare. Best, Dr. Emer.
Typically one doesn’t need to remove the birth control implant unless it’s in the area that is undergoing lipo. The usual place is in the arm and even those are usually not in the area of liposuction even when sculpting the arms.
Dear bodiedsoon, every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. Most plastic surgeons would ask you to remove birth control. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
It's important to follow your surgeon's pre-operative instructions closely before undergoing any surgical procedure, including liposuction. If you have a birth control implant, it's a good idea to discuss this with your surgeon during your pre-operative consultation. In most cases, having a birth control implant is not likely to be a contraindication for liposuction surgery. However, your surgeon and medical team need to be aware of all the medications and medical devices you're using to ensure your safety and optimal outcome during and after the surgery.During your consultation, make sure to inform your surgeon about your birth control implant and any other medications you might be taking. They will provide you with specific guidance on whether any adjustments or precautions are needed. In some cases, you might be advised to continue using your birth control implant as prescribed, while in other cases, your surgeon might recommend temporary changes or adjustments to your medication regimen.Remember that every patient is unique, and individual circumstances can vary. Your surgeon's recommendations will be based on their assessment of your overall health, the surgical plan, and your specific medical history. Always prioritize open communication with your surgeon and follow their guidance to ensure a safe and successful surgical experience.
No, you do not need to remove your implant prior to liposuction, but the additional estrogen does increase your risk of blood clots to a small degree.
There is no need to stop your birth control prior to having a cosmetic procedure performed. Your surgeon will do a risk assessment (Caprini Score) prior to procedure to assess blood clotting risks.Best wishes.Dr. T
You didn’t mention what form of birth control you are referring to. An IUD definitely does not have to be removed. Implantable hormone delivering devices also do not need to be removed but no plastic surgeon and no OB/GYN will never guarantee that the device will function properly after the procedure. Most likely the device will work normally and protect you from unwanted pregnancies. It’s also important to know if you’re having liposuction in the same area where the device is implanted.Discuss with your provider. If you haven’t chosen one then I suggest having multiple in person consultations.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD

Please do not remove your clavicles or you will have permanent difficulties, especially with breathing. You could have some liposuction of your upper back to help remove excess fat. The other option, of course, is weight loss.
