After lipo, even if you're only getting local anesthesia, you need someone to drive you home. I moved to another city right before lockdown so have no family here and have not yet made any close friends in my new city (thanks, pandemic!). So, what can I do? My ideas: - Have an Uber pick me up after? - Hire someone on a site like TaskRabbit , or maybe Care.com (?) to help me? Surely I can't be the only single gal out there who wants lipo? :( Thank you for suggestions!
Answer: Liposuction and taking uber home please do not do this even if its awake liposuction. you should have someone take you home and take care of you. if you are under anesthesia and its a larger procedure you need a day in aftercare. also follow ALL AFTERCARE so you ensure best results and you do not get infection or scar tissue. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Surgery NO, you cannot take UBER home because you need to be with a responsible adult and UBER driver will not take that responsibility. However, there are nursing agencies with nurses that you can hire to take you home the day of surgery and be with you until the next day.

Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear Eclectic218213, I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery. Answer: Getting home safely after surgery We do not allow patients to use taxis or ridesharing services unless it’s a designated medical transport to leave after surgical procedures. There are several reasons for these policies. We use sedation for plastic surgery procedures and find it inappropriate to put a sedated patient in a car with a stranger even if they work for a ridesharing company. It’s unfair for the driver to have an intoxicated possibly nauseous patient who could be leaking blood and fluid on the car after procedures like liposuction. For this reason we ask patients have a friend or family member or a legitimate medical transportation company pick up patients after surgical procedures. Exception is a procedure done under local anesthesia only and which case the patient can be responsible for their own transportation. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD

Answer: Uber is not an option, After liposuction, you will require some type of health care, such as someone to assist you in going to the bathroom, washing your clothes, cooking for you, and being with you in case of an emergency. It is also important that you receive lymphatic massages after the procedure and take your medications regularly. Although transportation is not the most important aspect of your recovery, I don't suggest delegating that responsibility to a regular driver.
