Each patient is different, so injecting the lips with a filler is individualized for each patient. If someone does not need the vermillion border enhanced, it is possible to inject the lips without treating the vermillion border. You should discuss your desires with the physician who would be treating you.
Great question! I almost never place filler at the vermillion border as sometimes this creates a shelf, unless the patient is older and has a weak or ill-defined border. Otherwise I generally just place the filler within the dry vermillion or the dry red part of the lip.Best of luck and hope this information helps!- Dr. Roger Tsai @DrRogerTsaiBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon
Lip augmentation is a very individualized injection approach designed based on the present anatomy. Some people need it while others do not. It all depends. You should trust an expert and if you don't feel comfortable, don't do it then. Would have loved to give you a better explanation but it is difficult since no pictures are provided. Good luck. Best, Dr.Avaliani
Thank you for your question. Every patient is unique in their desired outcome and anatomy. It is possible to get a great result with lip filler without injecting the border. For most of my patients I do not inject the border unless desired or there is some volume loss there. It is important to discuss with your injector your preferences in the consultation.
Injection into the lips with fillers can be done without injecting the vermilion, but be sure you see a board certified dermatologist who is experienced in the technique
In individuals who have a very well defined Vermilion border, there is absolutely no need to place a filler there. In the majority of individuals the filler is placed to increase the height of the lip itself. Good luck from New York City
Hello there! The vermillion border does not need to be filled with every lip filler patient. If you already have a prominent border, I doubt there is any need for filler there. I would recommend consulting with an expert injector. Good luck! Sarah RN BSN
Hi! Thank you for your question! Lip filler can be absolutely be applied without doing the vermillion border. Everyone's lips are different and it is best to have an expert injector evaluate your anatomy and give you the lips you are wanting. Hope this information helps!Nikki Stoker, PA-CBoard-Certified Physician Assistant
There is really no one size fits all method of injecting the lips. Each patient needs to have their injections customize to their particular needs. Although it is very common to augment the vermilion border it is not absolutely necessary in every case. One of the typical findings of the aging lips is that there is a loss of volume at the transition between the white and pink lip (the vermilion border). This can cause a loss of the gentle slope from white lip to pink lip which is characteristic of youth. For that reason the vermilion border is often augmented to help restore those natural contours. However, if you already have adequate volume at the vermilion border and just need more volume in the substance of the lip, then augmentation of the vermilion can be skipped. I would recommend finding an injector in your area and sharing your specific concerns. Together you can craft a treatment plan to meet your goals. I hope this helps, good luck!!
Filler treatments should be customized for each patient. You can absolutely have filler in the body of the lips to give you a little more fullness with also treating the vermillion border.
