Thank you for your question. I would recommend visiting with a plastic surgeon who sees children/teenagers to discuss your options with you in more detail. Procedures like dermal fillers or fat grafting are great ways to bring about more symmetry in the face. But I would only proceed if it is affecting your child psychologically or impacting school. If it is only a minor concern to him, then I would wait until he grows older into adulthood.
Voluma is an excellent alternative to currently used fillers. We use it for restoring mid face volume in the cheek that had previously been difficult to enhance. We have seen great results lasting 12 months and more. I would suggest you discuss your concern regarding your prior treatment with a dermatologist that has experience with Voluma.
Without photos it is very difficult to make a diagnosis and thus difficult to advise for a treatment. One thing comes to my mind though from your description and it is called Rhomberg syndrome. If this is the case, it can be of several degrees and treatment differs with the intensity and ranges from fat filling to more complex procedures. best, Shady Hayek, M.D. Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Beirut, Lebanon
Everyone's face is asymmetrical. If there is significant asymmetry for your son, please first see his pediatrician to make sure he is progressing appropriately developmentally. His face will continue to change throughout puberty. For most adults and young adults, hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers can help improve facial asymmetry when place appropriately. These HA fillers include Voluma, Volift, Restylane Lyft, Restylane, and Juvederm Ultra Plus for the cheeks. For adults, your dermatologist or plastic surgeon may also consider Sculptra. Thank you for your question and for sharing your experience. I would wait a good few weeks after your rhinoplasty to make sure that all your swelling in your cheeks and under eye region is gone prior to doing the Voluma.
You can use a combination of filers or fat and get a great result. This is the majority of my practice. I am unsure why you were told you would get lumps from a filler that is designed to improve the mid face/cheeks. I suggest you only go to an expert. Best, Dr. Emer.
Thank you for your question. Based on what your are wanting to try, Voluma will not cause stretching of the skin to the point you develop increased laxity after it is gone. However, whether you have Voluma or not, you will continue with the aging process which often entails...
Thank you for your question. Voluma is a very thick hyaluronic acid (or HA) gel that is placed deeper into the skin than other fillers. With results than can last upwards of two years, patients have been pleased with its results in the submalar and temple areas. The added benefit of...
Great question! Sometimes after Voluma injections, patients can feel the product under their skin. Seeing as your injections were only 2 days ago, this sounds completely normal. The tenderness that you are experiencing is most likely due to being injected. The discomfort should resolve within a...
Depending on how much of the product is injected, Voluma has been FDA approved to last for up to 2 years. With that being said, every patient metabolizes the product at a different rate. Unfortunately, there is no way to predict exactly how long it will last for you. Ulthera will not have any...
