Hello and thank you for your questionMost tummy tuck patients are out of work at least two weeks. It will depend on how quickly you heal. It is important to let your body heal and not strain yourself. Consult with a board certified surgeon to discuss your options and his/her restrictions. Best of luck!
Healing and recovery are patient dependent. You should feel well enough to return to a desk job ten to 15 days post TT. During recovery, you do not want to place a strain on your incision. Most of the time the incision is healed by 4 to 6 weeks. The muscles have been irritated to a certain extent by plication and the surgery itself. The abdominal wall may need several months to get accustomed to the changes. You should not perform strenuous exercises for 6 weeks (no core muscle or lifting over 10 pounds) in cases of uncomplicated healing or until instructed by your surgeon. Take a break from your work to stand and walk to the break room every 30 minutes or so.
Typically patients take two weeks off work to recover from a tummy tuck. It is important to allow your body time to heal after surgery. You will likely be on narcotic pain medication and unable to drive for the first week or two after your procedure. Your surgeon will be able to provide the best advice for you based on your individual surgical plan.
Thank you for sharing your question. Assuming you are not working from home and telecommuting I would recommend taking 2-3 weeks off of work to ensure an uncomplicated recovery after a tummy tuck. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your question. Typically I recommend a patient to be around the house for about 10 days. Some patients will feel fine to return to work within 5 days. I would recommend speaking to your surgeon and following their recommendations. Best of luck to you.
