Dear donnaishere84,every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon. I recommend my patients to start using Biocorneum gel after week 6.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Thank you for your question! For my patients having a breast augmentation, I recommend they wait until all of the dermabond skin glue comes off of the incisions before starting any scar cream. This typically takes anywhere from 3-6 weeks. I recommend discussing specific post op questions with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck!0
I use steristrips for pressure for the first 3 weeks. If the incision is well healed I then start a silicone scar gel or scar guard at about 4 weeks. Discuss with your surgeon. Good luck.
Thank you for your question. Although post procedure treatments do vary from one plastic surgeon to another regarding scar treatment, I advice my patients to wait 4 weeks before beginning scar care. I recommend a vitamin A based product such as Environ. Best of luck.
It is best to get the okay from your surgeon before proceeding with scar therapy. Typically the treatment can begin once the incisions are completely healed. Keep in mind that scar therapy takes time, so try to be patient and diligent with it.
As soon as the scars are soundly healed it is safe to use creams or oils on the scars. This is usually by two weeks so you should have had your post op check by this time. Best wishes.
In our office we typically will have patients start scar guards 2 weeks after surgery. It is important to make sure your incisions are intact before placing any creams or oils over them. I would contact your board certified surgeon on their recommendations of when to start oils and scar guards. Best of luck to you!
Hello and thank you for your question. I typically, considering scar is healed completely, advise my patients to begin scar therapy at 6 weeks post operative. I suggest you contact your plastic surgeon and ask him/her their recommendation as every surgeon has a different protocol. A silicone scar tape called Mapp attack can be very helpful in reducing the appearance of red raised her otherwise unusual scars. However I would not apply oil prior to the tape as the oil will interfere with the tape sticking. Of course it is most important that she follow the specific advice of your plastic surgeon.
